    Bergara b-14r pic thread

Like I mentioned above, I thought I could do better on the tackdriver targets. I realized that I was having trouble keeping my ret centered in the dot....so I made my own 'precision' target. There are 25 .15" diamonds for scoring and #26 is for sighter/adjustment. I missed 1 damn diamond by...

    Bergara b-14r pic thread

My B14R (lefty) is only slightly modified from stock configuration. The only upgrades I've made has been to add a Harrells AR15 direct thread tuner (not in this pic) Timney Calvin Elite trigger, and I rattle canned that eyesore dalmation spot stock. Scope is a Vortex Diamondback Tactical...

    Tuners for threaded barrels

Because of this thread, I finally went out and tried out my tuner yesterday evening. What's that the Mythbusters used to say? "Plausible" I absolutely saw a difference, but it's going to take a lot more testing before I say it's worth the money or effort. (different temps, ammo, distance...

    Maggie’s SH Motorcycle Thread

I've only been back on 2 wheels for a little over a year--rode a lot in my 20s, got married, had a kid and sold the bike. 25 years later, no wife, no kid and I'm back to living my life the way it's meant to be. 2004 Springer Softail. Not the fastest. Not the biggest. Not the most...

    Tuners for threaded barrels

I recently picked up the Harrell's AR15 tuner for my B14R. Its a direct thread 1/2x28 (or whatever the standard thread for small bore is). I don't know if it does anything or not--haven't had a chance to try dialing it in yet but it's on my list of things to do. I got this one because it's a...

KRG Bravo 10/22 chassis loose fit?

@Grey Kiwi Good suggestion! I already checked that. Screw is definitely not bottomed out. I upped the torque to 40 in/lbs--made a big improvement, but there's still (IMO) excessive play. I've got an email in to KRG to see what they have to say.

KRG Bravo 10/22 chassis loose fit?

My KRG Bravo 10/22 chassis recently arrived. Rifle is an OEM Ruger receiver, KSA .920" barrel and a Timney CE trigger. Putting the chassis together, I had to swap around the A and B spacers, but it was otherwise painless. My question is: At the manufacturer's recommended action screw torque...

    CCI SV Past 250 yards

I chased this rabbit too. Spent time and money (Waltz die set), chrono, bricks of CCI SV. The fact of the matter is that while CCI SV is probably the best of the cheap bulk stuff, it's not in the same league as the good stuff. I still prefer CCI SV in my 10/22 because it's reliable and more...

    22LR Bolt Action Magnification

I scored Rifleman (211, 232, 232 and 219) at a local Appleseed shoot back in October with a bone stock 10/22 and a Bushnell 3MOA red dot. I upgraded the optic to an old 1st gen Vortex Viper PST 1-4. That's my critter-removal/squirrel murdering rig. For target shooting out to 300yds, my B14R...

    Practicing for Appleseed.....humbled

I signed up for an Appleseed 2 day event in October. Its going to be a fun weekend for me, and the girlfriend's 17 y/o son has never been to anything like this before. He's a new shooter and has done fairly well with my centerfire stuff out to 600...

    Practicing for Appleseed.....humbled

Glad to hear that my Aimpoint should work! That right there will shave a full pound off of my rig. I'll swap it over from the AR tonight and give it a whirl---to be honest, I prefer shooting with the RDS vs a scope anyway......a dot is just so much faster and easier for my old eyes to pick up

Out of curiosity, what is the required score for earning Rifleman?

    This is too much fun

Man, ain't that the truth! I got my B14R (lefty) a few months ago and I've barely even touched my centerfires since. I can shoot the .22 in the backyard--the berm is exactly 85 yards from the porch. Too close to be interesting with the big guns, but plenty of distance for the rimfires. Even...

    Practicing for Appleseed.....humbled

Thanks for telling me about your experiences. I'm really looking forward to this......whodathunk I'd be so excited about spending a day shooting .22s? I had a 10/22 for DECADES that basically only got shot when there was a raccoon or possum in the chicken coop before I rediscovered the fun in...

Lefties rejoice! They’re finally in the wild!

I had been searching for over a year for a lefty .22. I found a vendor on Gunbroker that was a 3 hr one-way drive from me that had 9 B14R lefties in stock---this was 2 or 3 months ago. I'm glad I got it as it's EVERYTHING I had hoped it would be. It runs circles around my tricked out 10/22...

    Practicing for Appleseed.....humbled

Got bored and went to the gunshow today. Found a BNIB base model 10/22 for $289! I'm still going to bring the B14R, but the website says to bring a spare rifle if you can. I'll likely start with the B14R and as I start feeling old and enfeebled, switch to the Ruger. I can't decide between...

    Practicing for Appleseed.....humbled

Yep--I gave the boy my 10/22 a few weeks ago when I got my B14R. I had planned to buy him a new one, but I haven't seen a new 10/22 for sale in the wild for months around here. Used ones come up on Armslist every now and then, but I"m not paying the ridiculous prices they're asking. I'm keeping...
