How screwed am I?
The long action mag won’t work. The rounds will shift forward in recoil. That is the key. ….and generally rounds do shift forward under recoil. This will trap the nose under the action and jam it up solid. You need a replacement stock.- nksmfamjp

Chassis for Howa...Bravo or HCR?
The KRG Bravo is an excellent choice. The MDT’s are just a bit off in ergos, imo. Not sure about the HCR.- nksmfamjp

Interesting choices….which trigger did you go with? How’s it throated? Seems like the twist would be good for 160-190 gr monos. That is certainly a great stock. Did it get pillar bedded? Are the FN SPR enthusiasts extinct?
IMO, many old style triggers are going to be unsafe below 3lbs. The sear surfaces are just too ”wobbly” out where they are at, especially at lighter weights. I’ve always wondered why someone doesn’t recut the action and fit and oversized trigger and sear.…..maybe with improved geometry! ….or...- nksmfamjp

Arken/Outlier chassis rifle build
I too like the target Jard. It would be best if you scoured the earth for a SSS trigger, but they are hard to find and Fred seems set on not making more last time we spoke. My Jard gets pretty light. Light enough I had to turn it up a bit. I wanna say 7.5oz roughly on mine.- nksmfamjp

OP, you have heard a lot here. Does it make sense or are there more questions? IME, you have to look at what is new and unchecked. I like the idea of prefits, but I think you need a GO gauge to really know where your chamber length is at. Also, you may need a chamber cast to know the exact...- nksmfamjp

Which 30 caliber for a 2nd custom build
Looking at the OP again, I wonder….Have you considered something simple like 280ai, 270 Win, 7mm Rem Mag, 300 WSM or 6.5 PRC throated and twisted for mono’s like Hammers or LRX’s?- nksmfamjp

Cool rifle. I’m thinking it was barreled in Europe somewhere. It has extra markings on the barrel. I’m guessing proof marks. We dont and never have had proof houses in the USA. I think you need to clean the chamber well and cast it with cerrosafe or something….maybe try a GO gage too.- nksmfamjp

Help with barrel
Let the target tell you, unless it is bulged. Run a tight fitting patch down it and you should feel the bulge.- nksmfamjp
