    Gunsmithing Truing Winchester Receivers

Re: Truing Winchester Receivers I made one like that. It worked fine on the SA but the LA was running out of room in the chuck area. For the 700s I made something like the one that Roscoe showed on one of his posts. I am toying with the idea of making a chuck with multiple adjustment...

    Gunsmithing Truing Winchester Receivers

If any of you do the above regularly, or have it down pat, I would like to hear about your method. Remmies are easy to hold, as they are basically a tube. I have been considering various ideas of chucks, fixtures, and alien technology to facilitate truing M70s. I had an LA in the lathe...

Any minimalist or barefoot runners here?

Re: Any minimalist or barefoot runners here? I tried the Five Fingers KSO Trek. They tore up my feet when running. The balls of my feet were one big hotspot. They are okay for wearing around the house but no running for me. The socks have toes that are way too short. I think I am the...

Gunsmithing do AI stocks need to be bedded?

Re: do AI stocks need to be bedded? Go for the folder, especially if you go for a shorter barrel. 300Sniper posted some pics of his shorty in this section. Mine folded is about the same length as my CAR with the stock collapsed. You also don't have to take the cheekpiece off to clean it...

Gunsmithing do AI stocks need to be bedded?

Re: do AI stocks need to be bedded? To bed or not to bed, that is the owner's decision. AI says nay nay to bedding their chassis. When I was at their shop in VA, I was shown one that had been improperly bedded (too much, too deep). I think if you are going to bed it, a little dab'l do ya.

Re: lathe initial setup G7159 Machine Mount - 3" 1600 lb. Capacity or G7160 Machine Mount - 4-3/4" 8,000 lb. Capacity I got mine on the advice of Wm Roscoe. They work well. You will also need a machinists level and check it when the weather changes. You will probably not need to make more...

    Movie Theater Sorcerer's Apprentice

Saw it the other day. We all enjoyed it. Special effects were good, and Alfred Molina (as usual) does a good job in the villain role. Couple of hotties too. Nick Cage's car is very cool. Have no idea what is is, but it is cool.

Gunsmithing Opening up AICS recoil lug area for larger lug

Re: Opening up AICS recoil lug area for larger lug A couple of lessons learned...... If you end up using a long mill, do not zero the z axis until you have finished the y cuts. A long mill will deflect due to side pressure on the tool and ding the bottom of the mortise. You do not need to...
