    260 Loads Only

Right around 43gr seems to be a fairly popular load from what I've seen. It has only taken me 35 rounds to find a charge weight and tune this loads seaing depth, much better than with the 123's. Now I just need to stretch it out and see how they fly past 275yds.

You know it's deer season when...

I watched a guy at the range a couple of hours ago do his best to burn out a 7mm RemMag. He set up his rest and went straight to the 250yd steel plates (8") to apply a fresh coat of paint. The rest of us on the line decided to wait until he got back to continue firing, even though he didn't...

    260 Loads Only

Due to component availability (or lack there of) I've had to change from 123gr Amax's to 140gr Hornady BTHP's. I guess it's a blessing in disguise really, my rifle seems to really like the 140's. 140 BTHP Hornady 2.250" (-.010" off the lands) RP Brass CCI 200 43gr H4350 Chugging right along...

Range Report What Barrel Length needed to get the most out of the .260

I've always been told 24" or more to really get the most out of the 260. That being said, I built a "short" 260 with a 20" barrel and don't feel it gives up enough to the longer barreled ones to worry about. I'm still able to push 123 Amax's to near 2900fps with great accuracy and have started...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Grip Length Reduced Glocks

It gets a lot of looks and questions, especially from the die-hard Glock fans. They know something isn't right the instant they lay eyes on it. I think the only factory parts to this gun are the trigger mechanism, frame, and slide. The rest is a hodge-podge of parts that seem to make this damn...

Rifle Scopes Vortex scopes must have an awful lot of problems

I run one of their Midway exclusive 5-15's on my 260 and have really been impressed with the damned thing for what I paid for it. It tracks better than any other scope I own, the glass is superb (again, for the price) and I've beat on it pretty hard without a single failure. Vortex has drawn a...

    Help with my new 260

H4350 will get you more speed, but if you have Varget to burn, It seems to work pretty damn well in the 260.

    Need input on r700 aac-sd to 260

This is the route I went and haven't regretted it yet. It cost me less (much less) to have the barrel fitted to my action than it would have to hang and chamber a blank from Bartlein/Kreiger/Rock Creek. Granted, it's not on par with those barrels, but I have no plans on replacing it until it's...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Grip Length Reduced Glocks

My G17's grip is cut to G19 length, makes it a little easier to carry and doesn't print any more than a G19 does. It still runs the 17 round magazines just fine and is 100% reliable with the 15rd mags for the G19. If you're mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself as long as you pay...

TO PAINT..... OR NOT TO PAINT..... That Is THE Question.. 10-31-2013

Paint it, then kick it over in the driveway to give it some scratches.....er...... character.

    Another 260 load thread (123 SMK's)

I usually start as close to the lands as possible and still feed reliably from the magazine with SMK's. I'll second the load areas boilerup posted, you'll find something useable right in there somewhere. I tried SMK 123's in my 260, but it seems to prefer Amax's. If speed is a concern, just...

Reloading 9mm for Steel and action shoots, Help?

Clays, Unique, WST, HS-6, and Bullseye have all worked great for me in 9mm using 115-124gr projectiles (both lead and plated). I've honestly quit loading those though and started using 147gr Berry's over Hodgdon Longshot with magnum primers. It's a little dirty compared to WST or one of the...

    20" carbine users - need your speeds for 6.5x47 + 260 + 7-08

Easy choice for me since I just had this debate with myself a few months back, go 260. My 20" runs 123's just a touch under 2900 and will push 140's up to 2750fps (as high as I went in testing, still saw no pressure signs) with H4350.

Range Report Trying to decide between 260 remington and 7mm-08 in a 20-21 inch platform

2000MR might get the 185's there, loaded long and over a HEAVY charge, but I wouldn't want to be the one pulling the trigger.

Range Report Trying to decide between 260 remington and 7mm-08 in a 20-21 inch platform

Yep, I was able to push 140's up around 2750 without pressure signs in my 20" 260 with H4350, R17 would have probably gotten me even higher than that. 123 Amax's seem to be it's preferred fodder though, running right at 2900fps with H4350 and almost a full grain below pressure signs.

    Brake Install, Bad Work. Pics.

Oh I'm well aware that it can be machined, just not sure on the ins and outs of doing so. You just have to get through the hardened material and then it's business as usual correct? I'll be honest and say that I've never touched a lathe and I'm not going to claim I know jack about machining...

    Brake Install, Bad Work. Pics.

You could always shoot it with a couple coats of primer and sand the primer down before painting it. It won't help the difference in diameter between the barrel and brake, but it'll hide the scratches.

    Brake Install, Bad Work. Pics.

The barrel was already chambered, it was an AAC 260 Rem barrel. The headspacing needed to be done by grinding the recoil lug.

    260 with H4350 unsuccessful

It works great for me with 123 Amax's. Running 44.7gr in RP brass, .015" off the lands, and have zero complaints with it's performance. I'm getting right at 2900fps from a 20" barrel with that load.
