    Rifle Stock Texturing Tutorial

I used Devcon 10110 to do mine and a piece of foam from a box of Berger bullets to pull the peaks. The Devcon was a breeze to work with.

    123/H4350 Load Development

I was mistaken on my numbers there. 44.5 is giving me 2872fps average in Rem 7-08 brass, 2.805" COL. 45gr of H4350 is where it gets above 2900fps, but the accuracy is better from 44.2-44.7gr. One of these days I'm going to see what I can squeeze from some 130gr Bergers.

    Easy to remove case lube?

I'm with Rob01, Hornady One Shot is all I use for lube. If I need to take it off a large batch of cases, 20-30 minutes in the corncob media is sufficient. If it's 20-30 load development rounds, a quick wipe with a shop rag dampened with Isopropyl Alcohol does the trick nicely.

What to do with 30-06 brass?

You must have one hell of a loose chamber then. Last time I tried that was when I was running low on 308 brass for my SPS Tactical, and I waited to find brass after necking down some 06. The necks of the newly formed brass will have to be reamed or turned and resized going from 06 to 308...

    123/H4350 Load Development

    With that 26" barrel, 3K+ shouldn't be an issue (assuming that's a 260). I'm getting 2900+ from 44.5gr of H4350 pushing 123 Amax's from my 20" 260 and it's ridiculously consistent. Nice stick by the way!

    what might cause this....

Holy smokes! 18gr of H110 under 147's? Brother, you're so far over max pressures it's a miracle the brass lasted that many loadings. Cut down 223's have slightly more case capacity than the Rem/AAC Blackout brass and are over pressure well before 18gr. It's a wonder you're not smoking the primer...

    Let's See Some .260 Rem/6.5 CM Builds/Specs Picture Thread!!!

260, I edited the post to add that. It's my budget rig, built to do whatever I need it to at the moment. Right now I must need it to collect dust in the safe, because that's what it's doing :D

    Let's See Some .260 Rem/6.5 CM Builds/Specs Picture Thread!!!

    Gunsmithing Release Agent for bedding

I use HOS as well, on top of a buffed coat of Kiwi neutral. I stuck my first one by using the shoe polish only, and not enough of it, so I go with the more is better approach now. I'm up to 6 or 8 using that method and they've all released smoothly. Just like spraying cases before sizing, you...

Finally: Almost finished with my budget rig

Still haven't had a chance to really wring this thing out yet. Between work, doctor visits with a pregnant wife (our first), and life in general I just haven't had time to get out and shoot. I have, however, been doing a little work here and there to finish the rifle out the way I want it and...

    45acp SMALL primer

sawgunner nailed it. A lot of times there just isn't time to stop and pick up your brass between stages, or you're moving so much during stages that the brass is scattered all over the range.

    Gunsmithing Cracked Bell carlson stock...

HA! At least you have a sense of humor about it. I usually use a pissed of Raccoon (held by his back legs) to remove old bedding, the rabid possum method is a little too aggressive for my taste. On a serious note, like others have said already, relieve the crack a bit on both sides and fill it...

    Scratches on bullets after feeding

Take a file and GENTLY break the sharp edges on the bottom of the magazine feed lips. It takes all of 3-4 passes on each one, then it'll stop.

    Gunsmithing smith to rebarrel rifle

Re: smith to rebarrel rifle Chad's turnaround times are, what's the phrase for it........ fuckin' fast! I sent him a barreled action a few weeks ago and a melonited 260 barrel to be shortened and screwed on the R700 action. It arrived on a Saturday. Monday morning at 0800, Chad's time, he...

New guy here need some help

Re: New guy here need some help I haven't read anything bad about the Savage offerings in 6.5, but have never handled one myself so I can't peak for them from experience. If you go the R700 route though, most definitely give Chad Dixon a call for the rebarrel. I sent him my 700P and a new...
