    New Howa 6.5 CM Build

Is the trigger too heavy for you? I wouldn't worry about adjusting the trigger if it's already less than ~3lbs. Also, the rings should be torqued to the base at 65 INCH-pounds and the scope caps (the part that clamps down on the scopetube) should be ~20-25 INCH-pounds. I have a Howa HCR in 6.5...

    New Howa 6.5 CM Build

Generally you should not lap high quality rings as they are already good to go. Also, you may want to avoid using the vertical split rings because they have been known to bind erectors and parallax in scopes due to the unique stress from the ring design. There's a thread or two about this.

Rifle Scopes Ruger Predator 20+moa base????

Whoops, I didn't read carefully enough! Best solution I can think of is to get the 20 moa base and put the scope in a 20moa unimount from Badger or Nightforce

Ammo Advise for Rem .223 Long Range Varmint Match

Heavier bullets will have less wind drift, lighter and faster bullets will have less drop at close to mid ranges, but then fall off at extended ranges. Go with the heavier 70gr + offerings from Hornady and Federal

The cheapest of the cheap. What to buy?

I have a Ruger American Predator in 6.5cm that is very accurate, a solid sub-moa gun with Hornady and Prime ammo. I got it for $390. If you research it you will find that the vast majority of people have achieved very good accuracy with their RAP.

    Howa 1500 vs bergara HMR

I've a Howa barreled action from Brownells, 6.5 creed 26" heavy barrel threaded. Dropped it in an accurate mag chassis I got on the hide. Ran it in a match two weeks a go, no problems, feeding and ejection were very smooth. It's easily sub-moa with match ammo. The HACT trigger is very nice as...

Rifle Scopes Why most of us have MIL scopes but accuracy is expressed in MOA?

I switched to MILs because the DOPE is usually 2 significant figures vs 3 sig figs for MOA, just easier to look at, remember, and/or process during a match

Rifle Scopes advice on scope for my new GAP gladius.

NF 4-14 SHV or if you want spend a bit more then a NF 4-16 ATARC. These aren't overly large scopes so it'll keep your total system a bit more compact; but certainly capable of engaging targets past 1000yds.

    Ruger Long Range Target Rifle

26" barrel would be nice, but this is intriguing nonetheless.

    300 wm with high es

How did u measure muzzle velocity? Was it faulty equipment? For verification, if you shoot at 300 yards you will see a vertical string of ~2" with that velocity difference. Sometimes switching primers can solve an issue like this, although maybe not an ES of 180. Another one to check is neck...

Rifle Scopes First "Professional" Optic, Need Expert Advice

SapperMick, When that whole Magpul "The Art of the Precision Rifle" DVD came out a few years ago there was a long discussion on the forum about the good and bad of it. You can research that thread, but to keep a long story short, there were some things that happened in the DVD that highlighted...

Howa makes barreled actions in 300wm. They are generally very accurate.

    Which Remington 700, 300wm?

If you want a 300wm in the style of a sendero or 5r then i suggest selling one of them and buying a Howa 300wm barreled action from Brownells--they make a heavy barreled and threaded version ($500), and buy a Bell and Carlson stock ($275). The Howa machining quality is much better than the...

Need some SUPER quick answers please on Mossberg MVP LC

My opinion is the same as the others. Go with a 6.5 creedmoor in either a Howa HCR, Tikka CTR, Savage Stealth, or Ruger Precision rifle. They are better built and similarly priced to the Mossberg. If you really want to go cheap then get a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 creedmoor.
