Kat, there is a fella over on AccurateShooter.com is name is Mark Schronce, he is the 6br. king. Google him he shoots mid and longrange, he is also familar with the Savage rifles. I have a Savage here with a Krieger 1-8 twist 26" that I bought of of the forum over on AccurateShooter, have not...
I'd buy a used one, grind some bedding out, rebed it with a skimcoat of Devcon. Save $... I just put together a .223 mid-range rifle in a Stockade stock that was bedded by the previous owner, it will stack them tight. I will not rebed if it shoots 600 as good as it does 200.
When I first put my 6CM (Competiton Match ) on paper at 1000 yards, my group was 6.5" tall, windage was less. I was running a 115DTAC @3225 fps. I reduced the load instead of going higher, don't know why, just did. I took 3ths of a grain out. Group went to under 4.5", first a 5 shot, then a 10...
I killed three Deer 1 morning a couple of years back. I used a 140 Amax out of a .260. 2 Bucks, 1 Doe, 2 of them DRT and the other ran 25 yards. They work, every Deer my brother has killed has been with a 105 Amax I load for his .243. None have not been recovered, none for him have traveled over...
Good job on the pillars and the bedding job. I just saw this thread, my buddy and I did mine a year ago. This after CDI inletted it for his bottom metal and then you really see how bad it needs them. I don't know why McMillan can't put pillars in these stocks for Savage like they do for others.
I do not own one, but have handled a few. This is what I know about them, durable, strong, heavy, and at that price you can't beat the valu. I like my B&C Medalist A-2 better, it's lighter and strong.
bodywerks, I hope you get your package without tomuch more of a hassle. Mine came in this evening, don't know what the delivery person looked like, but I do like the looks of the sweetspot on the one that is pictured in this thread!
waiting on one right now from PVI via UPS. Hope it makes it today like it is supposed too. I've already been out the gate once, 3 Heelers run the property.
I just found this thread. I used to shoot Manatee every other weekend till I moved from Palm Beach County to N. Florida. Have you all ever gotten together to shoot on the weekend they shoot the gong match? My buddies and I would travel up there and shoot the match then play the rest of the day...
