Hunting & Fishing White tail round=to many options ugh

for in close work like 200yds you dont need anything fancy. Any of the following will work very well. Any variation of the Barnes Triple Shock, Hornady Interlock / Interbond, Nosler Partition or Accubond, Sierra Prohunter or Gameking. I have shot deer with the AMAX...it works...but ruins a...

Hunting & Fishing Sleeping bag temp rating question

Take the Kifaru Woobie and forget the other stuff. The woobie has so many uses….its a super functional piece of kit. Wrap yourself in that, then climb in your bag. PLENTY warm. Take it with you on your stalking in case you sit down for a while to glass…wrap it around you, lay on it, blah...

i put the NF NXS Compact 2.5-10x42 on my .270 hunting gun. very nice scope, but a little pricey. what is your budget? Leupold has some nice options for you at a reasonable price. I love all of my Leupolds. I got the NF just to try something different

Hunting & Fishing Building new .300WM hunting rifle....on the right track?

What is your target weight for the gun? I would suggest Talley one piece rings. Very nice and lite. Cerakote is good idea for resisting the elements. But have you considered melonite? I have used both, and the melonite is very very nice.

Suppressors Huge Shift in Zero with SpecWar

my POI shifted when I put my Specwar 7.62 on as well…when used both on my 300winmag and 6.5x47. Shift was up and slightly left. About 1.5-2inches at 100yds. And i wasn't too pleased with that…..

    Rifle Scopes Swarovski or NF

Im looking for a scope for my .270win. Strictly for hunting. Whitetail deer, black bear, mule deer, elk. I was leaning hard towards the new NF 2.5-10x42 NXS Compact. But for the same money I could get into a pretty nice Swaro. Does anybody have any experience with the Swaro scopes? I see...

Hunting & Fishing Smoking a whole hog recipes

The way brine keeps the meat moist is like so: The salt that is added to the bring actually absorbs moisture. Most brines have only a small amount of salt in them, but lots of liquid. The salt acts as a "sponge" for the liquids to absorb into. So when you inject the solution, the salt...

Gunsmithing Value of very nice wood - Rough Cut Stock for rifle

Its hard to say how it would come out. The grain pattern changes so much once you start getting into it. It does have heavy marbling at the butt end, but it looks very plain at the other. Im still shocked at the price he is offering. Im not sure I would carve that blank. I just don't think...

Rifle Scopes Tally rings compared to 'Tacticals'

Gunsmithing Value of very nice wood - Rough Cut Stock for rifle

The cost to have yours carved may be cheaper because it is already rough shaped. But to take my blank from blocked to finished stock went like this…and this is a personal friend of mine that did it. So I got a little break on the price. Carve Stock: $1800 Decel Pad / Install: $90 Tip / Grip...

Gunsmithing Value of very nice wood - Rough Cut Stock for rifle

Like others have said..it depends on the type of wood. But don't get too hung up on the grade. I have seen average grade blanks turn out way better than top dollar ones. In all honesty, the outcome of the stock will depend on the guy carving it. It is an art. And expect to pay top dollar for...

6.5 SAUM: Whats the big deal

I guess what I am getting at is this. Any benefit in a reduction in wind drift is worth less to me than being able to find ammo. I can't think of anything much worse than getting to camp for an elk or moose hunt and realizing that you forgot 6.5 SAUM ammo, or only threw 1-2 loads in our bag...

6.5 SAUM: Whats the big deal

Like I mentioned before, reading the wind is what counts. If you are good at reading the wind, then the advantage of less wind drift of the 6.5 SAUM goes out the window. If there was a good selection of factory loads for the 6.5 SAUM, I may be more inclined to go that route. What if my kids...
