Ban on body armor in the works!

correct me if I am wrong, but I thought civilians already couldn't own body armor? My buddy is a PO, and I asked him about it…he said he had to show his credentials when he bought his. Im confused

Hunting & Fishing for those of you who go out of town...

If bullet availability is that important to you, then look at 30.06, .270, 7mm, or 300wm. Those you WILL find just about everywhere. FWIW, I've seen white tail deer hit with a .260 that run run run run run and are never found. My buddy won't let anyone on his property hunt with them anymore...

Muzzle brake for a 300. win mag

If you aren't shooting much prone, VIAS is the way to go. Makes my 300wm soft as a puppy…can shoot it all day long.

6.5 SAUM: Whats the big deal

Ok maybe my terminology isn't the best. What I am getting at is how many of us can actually shoot well enough for that difference to really matter? I could see maybe in the bench rest game it could matter, but for hunting and "practical" types of shooting, does that difference really matter...

6.5 SAUM: Whats the big deal

Strictly for hunting purposes for me, so running it in an AI is a non issue. Ive even considered throwing the ole 270win in the mix here. But the differences in BC are more pronounced. But yet again, me, personally, could probably shoot a 270 just as good as a 6.5 SAUM or 7 WSM. I don't...

6.5 SAUM: Whats the big deal

From what I can gather, the 6.5 SAUM is very similar in ballistics to the 7 WSM. Both push 140g projectiles at similar velocity. Barrel life seems to be comparable. Besides a small difference in BC on projectiles, Im not sure what all the "hoopla" is about the 6.5 SAUM. For example, the BC of...

    270 Bullets

The Berger VLD hunting bullets performed well for me last year, but they are very sensitive to seating depth. Thats why I was wanting to try the Hornady Interbond. I have heard that the jacket on the Hornady SST often separates if it hits any bone whatsoever. What kind of accuracy are you...

    Maggie’s pit cooking full deer

Cooking whole deer like that is tough, because it has a tendency to dry out bad. If you are hell bent on trying it, I would stuff the deer with sausages, onions, etc, to keep the juices flowing. and also wrap the entire thing in tin foil.

    Gunsmithing Sealing a wood stock

If you are going to use Tung oil, get the real stuff, not the watered down stuff from Homedepot. You want 100% Tung oil. And be careful using it. It spontaneously combusts. So throw your rags in a metal coffee can or such.

    270 Bullets

I am having a hell of a time finding some 130g bullets for my 270win. Specifically the Hornady Interbond and Berger VLD. If anybody knows a source I would really appreciate it. I only need a box or two to hunt with this season.

    Suppressors Best 7.62 Semi-Auto Suppressor

I bought the Specwar 7.62 to run on my semi auto 308s. Its built like a tank. Muffles my 300winmag bolt gun very well. I haven't tried it out yet on my semi autos though. But I do like it. And their CS is great.

Suppressors First time out with 30p-1

My bolt also got sticky after using my 30P-1, but I think its just the nature of the beast shooting suppressed. The super tight tolerances of my BAT actions I'm sure doesn't help. Just keep some grease on your lugs…that helped me run smooth with the can on. Where your groups just as tight...

    Suppressors TBAC 30P-1 Bushing Help

For example: If I took a 1in cut off piece of heavy varmint contoured barrel, and threaded it to TBAC 30p specs, that would provide me with "shoulder" for the can to butt up against. Then could I have this bushing threaded to my barrel specs, and "red lock rite" the bushing to my barrel, and...

    Rifle Scopes Compact Hunting Scope

It won't be "abused" but it will be my main hunting rifle. And will see a lot of travel, leaning against tractors and trucks, up and down trees, through bogs and swamps, up rocky mountains, etc. I really like the Nightforce, but I am very used to calling out shot adjustments using my FFP...

    Rifle Scopes Compact Hunting Scope

I need to purchase a scope for a new .270 hunting rifle that I just built. Shots will be taken out to 600yds most likely. Im trying to keep the gun lite as possible. What is everyones opinion between the Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP vs the newer Nightforce NXS Compact 2.5-10x32? Other than...

Just crank on it with some Channel Locks until it breaks free. Or beat on it with the dull end of a kitchen knife like the old lady does to open jelly jars. Seriously, that sucks man. Did you have any anti-seize on the threads? Im not sure if its recommended or not, but I usually put a...
