Do you need match 175 BTHP's

I visited the site and they seem to be out of stock now... but then I realized that for only 10 more dollars, I could get 5 boxes (500) of first quality Hornady 178 AMAX's. So it was a worthwhile visit to the site. :)

    Training Courses BangSteel.com "non-golfer" t-shirts...

We're raising some money to help fund the cost of long range shooting classes for state and local law enforcement officers at our facility in Virginia. Most LE departments are not interested in seeing their snipers learn long range shooting, and are of course not interested in funding such...

    shooting beyond 500 yards

You're most likely tilting right... right handed shooters tend to tilt right, and even if you're a lefty you still may be tilting right a bit. If you don't have a scope level (anti-cant level), that's the most likely problem. If you do have a level, it may need to be trued to gravity so that...

Sleuthing the Federal Gold Medal match load... Mk 316 Mod 0?

Having a more precise scale wouldn't necessarily help us prove that FGMM is the Mk316 load, since the powder lot variations might necessitate slight changes in charges weights from one lot of ammo to another. On the ejector swipe and pressure signs on the reloaded brass, it could simply be...

Sleuthing the Federal Gold Medal match load... Mk 316 Mod 0?

Rprecision, what rifle are you using? That load should be on the mild side... could it be the brass just needs to be FL sized fully? What about Federal factory GMM, does it show any pressure signs when you shoot it (or have you tried it yet)?

Savage BA 110 338 Lapua Magnum. Favorite brass, bullet, bullet weight, and powder??

Use only Lapua brass, the other brands may not extract well due to the rim size being a tiny bit smaller (and not perfectly round)... I've had trouble with Hornady brass, and I've seen others have issues with S&B once fired brass. The Lapua brass works great. 89.3 grains of Retumbo, and take...

July 26th TEAM SHOOT, BangSteel.com (Southwest Virginia)

As you guys know I'm an incurable 308 fan. :) I was glad to see the cartridge do what it was intended to do in the hands of a lot of guys who know how to work 'em. :) 308 team rankings: Lester/Kennedy Meadows/Litz Lance/Houck (tied for 2nd with same score of 500 points) Price/Bowers (just ten...

July 26th TEAM SHOOT, BangSteel.com (Southwest Virginia)

:D Oh yeah, the cow pie... we step in 'em all the time. What I hate worse is when I'm out on the ATV and run through some and the tires throw crap all over me. :/ Anyway... top 10 teams are as follows: Lester/Kennedy Haggerty/Masters Melvin/McPeak (tied for 2nd place, just 10 pts behind...

July 26th TEAM SHOOT, BangSteel.com (Southwest Virginia)

We'll have both shooters on the rock fence south of the silo, side by side, both likely spotting through their own rifle scopes. If the team chooses to use the time to man a spotting scope, then switch shooters to achieve the objective for the stage, that'll be fine. On another note: I-77 is...

July 26th TEAM SHOOT, BangSteel.com (Southwest Virginia)

I'm not sure on the 308 team count... there will be a few I'm sure, and some teams will consist of a 308 and some other rifle, but to win the top 308 prize both team shooters would have to be using a 308 chambered rifle. The last I heard two guys from Team Bushnell (Jon Lester and Clark...

July 26th TEAM SHOOT, BangSteel.com (Southwest Virginia)

On the 7th stage, I think we'll let the teams decide whether to command fire targets in order from nearest to farthest, or to split them and have one team member engage 2 targets while the other takes the other 2. We need to of course let the spotters know which targets to be watching, so the...

July 26th TEAM SHOOT, BangSteel.com (Southwest Virginia)

stage 7 will involve both shooters simultaneously engaging 4 targets (prone position) at ranges from 600 to 1000 yards, with 2 minutes for set up time and engagement, unlimited shots (not to exceed total of 50 shots for entire match). Plates will be scored as hits or no-hits at end of 2 minute...

July 26th TEAM SHOOT, BangSteel.com (Southwest Virginia)

Tentative stages for this match include the following: 1. Shooters begin by engaging targets from prone position at 400 to 600 yards. This will be occasion to determine if rifles are hitting high or low based on initial zero for the match. Often, depending on scope and mount type, long rides...

We should be able to fit two or three more teams into this match, as we'll undoubtedly have a couple of no-shows... so if you're wanting to enter, PM or email your team members names, and read the match info at the page linked below. Round count of 50 to 60 rounds each should do it. Ranges...
