May 31st BangSteel Challenge, SW Virginia... a few spots open, + match details

Great turnout, and a great match... some really good shooters in the mix, for sure. Thanks to all who participated. A perfect score was 700 points, but with three bonus stages that score could be exceeded. Gray Sloan did just that, turning in an amazing score of 730 points for the...

    Different zero

You're right... and I was going to suggest that. Probably the torque on the action wasn't the same when you got your zero, as it was after you removed the action and re-torqued things. Different shooting positions (bench versus prone, etc) can also affect POI and zero. Too, when a scope is...

    Getting setup for 308...die recommendations?

There are lots of ways to approach this one... but I've always gotten along very well with RCBS dies, and I do like the Lee Collet for neck sizing. These are not too expensive, and seem to do the job well. At least now, the largest variable in the equation is me--not my rifle or my loads. :)

We're hosting the spring BangSteel Challenge on May 31st at our facility in southwest Virginia. It will be an individual match, with prizes and cash being awarded to best shooters. Because the match is an individual shoot, and shooters will need to spot their own impacts in order to get on...

Are IMI match brass .308 any good?

It's good stuff, but heavier than Winchester. It's more on par with FC and LC as far as volume, and seems to be sturdy stuff. If it's virgin brass, that's not a horrible price... but probably 200 for the batch would be more than fair for buyer and seller.

    2000MR + 308 + 155 SMK Palma OCW test

Your scatter node at 46.4 points to an OCW right around 48.1 grains, and the next node wouldn't come around until 49.5, which may be too high. I'd probably go with 48.1 and call it done...

Good glass is pretty key to spotting... we've not found anything better than Vortex HD stuff... the new Kaibab 20x56 binocs I've been using have been absolutely phenomenal... Parker uses a Vortex Razor spotter and we had (courtesy of Vortex and Atlas Tactical) other Vortex HD spotting scopes on...

Guardian Long Range Competition - Virginia - 2014

Cool... though my beloved .308 did top the list, the 6's and 6.5's are still obviously the rifles to beat. Great job, all... some of you got some really bad wind breaks, but you made the best of the situation. My favorite part of the day was watching the 1000 yard three-shooter race unfold...
