AR 15 complete lower weight differential

I have been contemplating building a ultra light weight 14.5" gun. I am looking at the GWACS lower or sticking with a 7075. Durability of the GWACS is a separate discussion. I am looking a weight for the moment. I don't want to do a skeleton build. I don't think they are all that good of an...

Doping a rifle without a chronograph

I was thinking about getting a case or two of Prime to get me through for a while. Unfortunately, I don't get to shoot all that often so 500 rounds could easily last a year or two. (Work+kids>range time). With that one lot I could have a chronograph but the end of it.

Doping a rifle without a chronograph

I am still getting all of my long range gear together. I have yet to get a chronograph. I do have have a Kestrel. I am going to be using factory 6.5 CM for the time being. Am I going to be wasting my time using the factory published MV?

    Kahntrol Solutions podmod

I got this from the owner. "Vince, the issue we've seen recently on some Harris legs, they are slightly out of round from their cutting process. You can put a slight chamfer on the leg and heat the podmod (boiling water) and they'll slip on. It's only been an issue on about 10% of harris's. If...

    Kahntrol Solutions podmod

I got a set of these. I put them on a Harris. They were QUITE tight. I ended up easing the edges of the Harris legs and using grease. They were so tight I didn't even bother putting the roll pins in. Is this normal? Not that it matters at this point.

    DA reference point

I'm sorry for going round and round. I'm a newbie. Going back to the example I gave, I get that I could be at 3000' and come up to 5000' or be at 6000' and come down. When it's saying 5000' though, what are the conditions it uses to say 5000'? There has to be a baseline that the only thing...

    DA reference point

What I am trying to figure out is when you come up with say a DA of 5000'. That bullet thinks it's at 5000', but what are the conditions of the air at the hypothetical 5000'?

    DA reference point

In the Kestrel episode, Frank talks about how when temp goes up or down the DA changes. I get the why. What I am curious about is what the reference conditions are. There has to be conditions to that altitude, doesn't there? Is it sea level at 29.92, 68° and 50% humidity?

    Harris foot adapter

Do you feel like there is any additional flex in the system because of it or is it pretty tight?

    Harris foot adapter

I've seen a few different systems that allow you to use Atlas feet on a Harris. Has anyone used them? Is one better than another? Are the products worth it or is it not really a viable solution?

Tax stamps for full auto and suppressors

Curious about the process. What all should I have ready when I go to apply? How do I get started? All I have is a speeding ticket from 20 years ago and a parking ticket from about two years ago so I think I'm good. What are the things that I will need to watch out for afterwards? What would...

    Inner workings of a semi-auto.

Don't feel bad. I was at the range and the guy on the next lane was obviously having trouble. He had to charge his large frame AR after each shot. He was clearly perplexed by it. I asked him if he was having trouble. He said yes and went through everything I had already gathered. What I...

    Inner workings of a semi-auto.

Is your gas block just have a screw for adjustment? I honestly would look at finding one with some kind of detent system. If your load changes, you may need to adjust the gas block. Also I have heard that heat can loosen thread locker. Just something else to think about.
