    Load Development Help

The first thing that jumps out at me is: Case--Mixed. You need to match your head stamps. Other than that, why these two powder charges? Have you tried others?

    Do they still make Varget???

I've had VERY good luck with IMR 8208 XBR with 77gr Nos CC's. Got more MV with .5gr less powder.

    What press for 338LM?

I use the Hornady L-n-L single stage and it works fine. It is easier if you put the bullet on the case mouth then slide it up and in the press. Takes no effort!!! I don't like the RCBS die recommended above, because it doesn't support the case very well when seating the bullet. Spend the $...

Kestrel ATRAG users that switched to Applied Ballistics

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has switched from the 4500NV with ATRAG to the 4500NV with Applied Ballistics. The ATRAG model has treated me well for the past few years and I'm wondering if there is any real advantage to "upgrading" to the new model. Any opinions with real world...

Magnetospeed use with forward brake? Anyone out there had issues?

Talk with the guys at Magneto Speed and they will tell you how to set up a custom trigger. I have a V1, and they talked me thru the set up to work with my 338LM that has a 2.25" brake that blows forward.

    What reloading press for 338LM?

I do mine on a Hornady L-n-L single stage press. Works fine.

Annealing. Am I doing it right?

You are doing a good job, but probably need to go just a little longer. Watch for a blue line to start showing just below the shoulder. Once the line moves down the case wall about 3/8" and then you are good. If you have any new Lapua brass, try to copy the look of that. Ok, just saw your...

    The pain of reloading

I also feel like Bruno's is price gouging. It's sad to see them do it. Because of it, I try to use them as a last resort. Their prices are simply out of line.

Trying to finish up...what else do I still need?

If you are going to shoot long range, you NEED to reload. I would recommend a sonic cleaner. Lots of opinions out there on that tho! For annealing, just get a camp stove gas bottle and a torch head from Ace. It will do all you need to do! Good luck with your bench. Try to anchor it to the...

    300 Blackout Sub-sonic Load Development

When doing sub-sonic load development for 300BLK, is it best to shoot groups at 50 or 100 yards? I am working with a bolt gun. Just wondering which distance guys with experience would recommend.

Is a rangefinder a "necessary" part of LRS?

I wouldn't consider long range shooting without one.

    4500NV vs AB CD

Got a copy of Bryan's book with the AB CD in it. Loaded AB on my computer and started playing with it. I got out my Kestrel 4500NV, with ATRAG, and matched the environment on the computer with what the Kestrel said. When I had all info matched, my solutions from the two were very different...

Mixing same powder from different batches.

I also agree with mixing. I kept an 8# jug and when I find a pound here and a pound there, I dump them in the jug and shake like hell.

    Rifle Scopes ATACR or NXS

When comparing the NXS (I have 5 of them) to my ATACR, the light transmission thru the 34mm tube is FAR superior!!!!

    Magnetospeed v2

IMHO a chrono is not to be used during load development. Develop your load and then use chrono to get your numbers.

    looking for some help

Too much pressure will give you vertical stringing. Check your fired brass for pressure signs.
