    Maggie’s What's Your View II

Very cool. My YFZ is a little older but it doesn’t look like a Yamaha head. Whatever it is keep it running strong bud. 👍

Hunting & Fishing Let’s start a coyote thread.

No coyote for us yet but I’d like to share a story that my son, who is a mentor youth, and I experienced. It’s turkey season in PA and on the first day of the season my son and I were set up just off of a quad trail. Our backs were against the same tree with his right shoulder and my left...

Hunting & Fishing First Day in Pa.

No luck on a turkey for my son. He’s a mentor youth. But we did have a coyote walk past at 5 feet. As soon as I moved he bolted giving us no shot.

    Ruger Precision Rifle Discussion

Could the brass be worn where the extractor hooks it? Maybe try new brass and see what it does? I’m grasping at straws but what popped into my head.

    Cast Iron Skillets

Carbon steel is less expensive, lighter and the cooking surface of the pan is smooth like the older cast iron pans. The rougher texture of today’s cast iron can be off putting to some users.

Maggie’s Can Am vs Honda ATVs?

A note on the power steering. When they first came out with power steering it was meant to be an alternative to a steering stabilizer basically. That is what it shines doing but it also eases turning at slow speeds especially with 4x4 engaged. When speed increases so does resistance in the EPS...

Maggie’s Can Am vs Honda ATVs?

If performance isn’t your main concern look hard at the Honda’s and Yamaha Grizzly. Can Ams are known for electrical issues and Polaris’s belt system is on the weaker side. If you’re main concern is pure reliability for work my nod would go to the Honda. Their transmission is all but bullet...

    Cast Iron Skillets

Myself and @pmclaine said the key word: polymerization. Basically changing a liquid into a solid. Flax seed oil is really good for this but the key is to use the cast iron. It both opens the pores of the metal and solidifies/hardens the coating. The seasoning won’t be shiny and black on the...

    Cast Iron Skillets

You are correct. In my experience the Lodges hold more seasoning layers than the higher quality, older, smoother brands due to all the peaks and valleys in the surface. The valleys fill in while your spatula scrapes across the peaks. However, once a smooth pan gets proper polymerization from the...

    Cast Iron Skillets

They were all sand cast then finish ground, no spinning. Today Lodge skips the finish grind step. That’s why they are so rough textured. The old “notched” lodges were very well made and finished. I’m on the lookout for a gate marked piece. It’s very hard to ID the manufacture but most gate...
