Run Out problems I give up......

Any galling or sticking with the seater? Is it releasing the bullet cleanly without grabbing or popping?

Does brass case brand really matter?

The nosler custom i got for my 7mag was near perfect in every way. Weight, neck thickness, zero runout, flash holes chamfered and necks chamfered and deburred. The only possible thing left to do woukd be to use a mandrel to set the exact nevk tension you want. All sorting and case ops were done...

Does brass case brand really matter?

Run Out problems I give up......

While this is true, it can also be fun to manufacture something to the best of your ability. I dont blame the OP for wanting to know the answer. I find some of the rabbit holes in this sport enjoyable....even if frustrating at times.

Rifle Scopes still don't understand why less magnification is better

Yes. I see this when I teach pistol shooting (with tradition iron sights). I can tell who is actually focusing on the front sight even though the target is blurry and who looks at the front sight, lines everything up, and then shifts focus to the target to aim and break the shot. The first group...

    Wet vs. Dry Tumbling

I wet tumble...but I think there is validity to the inconsistent neck tension complaint. You can definitely feel a difference in seating force consistency between carboned up necks and the grabby sparkling clean ones you get from wet tumbling. Im gonna try dry rice in the wet tumbler i have.

Run Out problems I give up......

Ok this is crazy and unlikely if you are this far into reloading...but your primers are square and seated just under flush right? So that the case sits exactly square and flat in the press?

Does brass case brand really matter?

My Peterson brass has over three times the variation you have in neck thickness. Maybe I should send it back. I wasnt impressed frankly. However weight was within 1.5 grain across a 25 case sample. My nosler custom is waaay better than peterson.

Have you tried a different cocentricity gauge? Have you ever measured less runout on any other ammo? Id like to hear the answer to Lt Dan’s question as well.

Range Report Berger has a new 7mm bullet

Hey @RobertGradous, saw your “like.” Glad you are still on here, Thanks for building a hammer of a rifle!! I have really enjoyed it.

Rifle Scopes New Mk5HD 7-35...this dont look right...

Contacted Leupold and as I suspected...and hoped, its assembly lube that didn't get wiped off. All is well?

Range Report Berger has a new 7mm bullet

Right on should be a great build then. Not seeing any problems with the 8.5tw, even with 195s hybrids. Its just that it doesnt quite spin anything heavier than 180 enough to optimize BC for those bullets. They will stabilize, but have slightly reduced BC. For the bullets I ended up shooting...

    OCW / Satterlee Test Results

I agree. Hybrids or tangent profiles like the smk dont seem to care much about jump. I think that was more of a pure vld, secant profile thing.

Range Report Berger has a new 7mm bullet

I was going to do a 284 and went straight 7mag instead for slightly more speed and glad I did. I was worried about the belt and my smith (Gradous) said why, just ignore it. So I did, it just isnt an issue. Nosler custom brass, throated long and running 2990 with h1000 and 180hybrids in a 26in...

Rifle Scopes New Schmidt and Bender DT II+/MT II with .05 MIL Turrets

Not sure what is confusing here about .05...its literally just twice as many clicks as before for the same elevation. Twice as precise of an adjustment. Will be nice for zeroing so you dont have to use zero offset in the ballistic calculator, and will be nice for shooting really small targets. I...

    Peterson Brass

Bought 500 rds Peterson 6.5cm brass. Very consistent in weight, out of 25 samples total of 1.5grain variance. Just starting to load these for the first time and since they were bulk packed wanted to run an expander in them to uniform the necks. Was measuring necks to figure out what...

Rifle Scopes still don't understand why less magnification is better

Not everyone dials back. One thing I have noticed in the shooting community is that many shooters simply do what others do. Replicating good shooters is not a bad idea, but good shooters also do certain things because they are copying techniques as well. Im not at all convinced I shoot smaller...
