Gunsmithing Durability of hydro dipping a rifle stock?

Thanks for all the responses. Will take a good look at a clear cerakoat for the final layer - that might be the best solution.

Gunsmithing Durability of hydro dipping a rifle stock?

That was what I thought. So is there a durable clear coat that would be best to cover the dip pattern? Generally I am thinking something mat would be best for most uses, though wouldn't want something that would reduce the quality of the duracoat layer underneath.

Gunsmithing Durability of hydro dipping a rifle stock?

I like the flexibility of patterns that hydro dipping a stock would give me, but just wondering how well the finish would hold up on a rifle that is actively used in the field? Would appreciate any comments from those that may have tried it.

    Room to improve stock design?

Guys I am working on a couple of stock designs that I may offer commercially in the future. I will go into a bit more detail on the actual stocks when I have the design more nailed down. However I am keen to get feedback on what to include/exclude on the design. Right now, I am thinking...

Hunting & Fishing Keeping the 6.5 CM busy.

For what its worth, I shot a fallow buck with a 6/284 using the 105gn Scenar. Hit just behind the shoulder with the deer facing broadside, but little away from me. At 200 yards the buck dropped on the spot. With a 6mm or 6.5, I would be very comfortable using the Scenar on deer/antelope sized game.

Gunsmithing Polish back end of chamber

Does new brass have this click? I am assuming not, and if correct the cause is that you are running hot reloads and the resizing die is not sizing the brass adequately. The cure is to get a better fitting die, or toss the brass and run lighter loads. One option would be to look at the collet...

Gunsmithing 7mm rum to 300 mag

Everything you have described is correct. Boltface will work, get a barrel blank and have the chamber done. However, assuming its a repeater you also need to look at the magazine. The larger RUM case will mean the 300 (I assume you mean Win Mag?) is narrower in the body than the RUM, so 300...

NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark In a falling block rifle, 26gn with a 50gn Sierra Blitzking bullet shot very well for me. This is just under the max load listed by ADI, but FWIW, was able to go hotter in my rifle.

Hunting & Fishing Ballistic reticle scope for hunting

I am looking for recommendations on a hunting scope with a reticle along the lines of the Zeiss Rapid reticle. I was planning on getting a Conquest 4-14x15 with the Rapid 1000, but have heard the POI moves when the magnification is moved. Also, I am not sure if the reticle will be clear enough...
