The California current comes down from Alaska. The ocean off of the coast of Cali is cold (ever Notice all the surfers there are in wet suits and nobody is in the water at the beaches?) the result is a fog layer just offshore over the water called the Marine Layer. When the inland valley...

Some of you may have seen this, some of it may be rubbish, and I know it’s old. In any case I don’t have the experience to know, but even if part of it’s correct it’s impressive. Enjoy: * One Top Fuel dragster 500 cubic-inch Hemi engine makes more horsepower than the first 4 rows at the...

I’m pretty close to that with a little less zen. Most of the other drivers are asses stressing over 30 seconds difference in arrival time. I run the speed limit to +5. I get better mileage that way. Leave early enough to get there and don’t stress.

Not sure where you’re seeing that. In the last 15 yrs or so almost the entire trucking industry has gone to electronic logs, GPS tracking and limiters for insurance reasons. Outside of somewhere in NM or AZ the last time I drove I40 from Knoxville to Flagstaff on my way to PHX I can’t remember...

I’ve spent 30 yrs doing radioactive waste management. I’ve shipped Cat1 sources, been part of the cleanup of broken 50,000Ci Cs-137* sources at a sterilizer, cleaned up many DoD ranges and sites, and shipped thousands of tons of contaminated soils. Trust me when I say if that were real the...

There was another vid here yrs ago of someone getting cold cocked in a fight and breathing like that. An EMT type ID’d what was happening. I don’t remember exactly what it was, but it’s not good. I don’t want any of that. I cringe more today because I’m nursing a cracked rib from a run a...

Folks back home used to pay my brother and I to get them 'coons for T.giving. 'Coon is dark meat, I could see the similarity to bear (never tried it) possum looks more like white meat pork.

I did that in ‘86 on the other side of the world about 500 miles west of Panama at the equator. (I could look at my shellback card and see exactly where, but it was a long way from land…. And deep.

DH MTB riders have been insane since the 90s. I did the Kamikaze at Mammoth back in like ‘96, I stunk and still hit about 50mph through the speed trap. Since those days it’s gotten a lot rougher and more challenging. In my 60s now, I’m trying to go fast enough to impress my sons and keep them...

Last time I drove through the one in Barstow looked like it was all old commercial stuff. (Doesn’t mean it is, and that was a really long time ago) I did a project at the old Walker AFB in Roswell a while back. Every day there was an excavator with a muncher on it turning old 737s and other...

The TI-30s were not expensive by the early 80s, around ‘82 the newest ones had dropped the red LED for an LCD and they had gotten flat as opposed to the wedge shape of the one in the pic. The SRs were pricey in the mid 70s, but I don’t recall the $$. They were the first, but it wasn’t long...

oops, I’m off. The TI-30 was the standard NNPS calculator. What we has in High School in the 70s was the SR-51a. Enter 69 factorial … 69[!x] and watch it think for like 15 seconds or something. Was the longest function we ever came up with...

Wouldn’t be any video of that one. back in the 90s there was a fire/safety manager at a federal facility where I was working who commented on the building plans for the sodium storage facility didn’t meet code beca it didn’t have a sprinkler system. (saner minds prevailed)

There is some photoshopping going on in that pic. That sail with fairwater planes is all wrong, I can’t recall or find any sub with that sail size/planes configuration The pic may be real, but it’s been modified.

“Salvage value”, I like that. I’m goinna steal that one. Cycling never got me any metal, though a pre-race mtb ride it did get my right knee scoped and some cartilage removed in the mid 90s. (raced on it 6 weeks later). something stoopid and a spiral fracture of the right tib and a...
