6.5CM, Issues with 140 AMAX in 8 Twist Edit: Bad Lot of AMAX

23 I think it was at that time, and like 2750 maybe. I chopped the muzzle off though and set back the chamber an inch in search of the problem that ended up being the bullet. Now it's 21" and getting 2863 with 130vld, although BC and dope matches up better with 2900. This is a different barrel...

6.5CM, Issues with 140 AMAX in 8 Twist Edit: Bad Lot of AMAX

I'm not sure what more information you could possibly ask for outside of what's in this thread. Have bad lot, call Hornady, pretty simple. Galaxy S3 on tapatalk

Gunsmithing Just dreaming and looking at my screen

There is more money in the tooling on that second lathe than my machines themselves are worth.

Gunsmithing PTG SA 700 1 piece bolt dimension, lugs to handle??

I believe you can specify that dimension when ordering, so measure from your action lug abutment to the extraction face and add .010". Galaxy S3 on tapatalk

    Some SSBR fun...

Yeah all 22 conversions are direct blowback, no gas. Same with 9mm.

    Some SSBR fun...

Super Short Barreled Rifle, the technical designation for the ATF haha. CMMG dedicated 22lr barrel and bolt, originally 7.5" but >50% were going supersonic so I chopped her down to 4.25". Its sitting on a full auto lower, so its also rather fun to shoot. Cerakoted Tungsten with a touch of...

Gunsmithing Few 07FFL Record Keeping Questions

Few things I just want to make sure Im clear on before I get audited some day, just want my shit in order... 1. Custom Actions. Say I receive in a bare action from Defiance, two different situations here. First being a Defiance labeled action, second being branded with my FFL and models. I...

Gunsmithing Converting a 338 win mag to a 338 lapua?

Not necessarily. You could get a ptg bolt and just re chamber it, might not even need set back. This is assuming it's a 700. If it's a detachable box mag you just need non cip Lapua mags then. Not ideal setup but it works, custom actions with 750 diameter bolts are little better suited to the...

Gunsmithing How do they do it?

I'm sure you could probably figure it out if you thought about it for a second... What's the outside diameter of a Remington action? 1.35 ish, just make the sleeve so it's a slip fit over an action. Then enough clearance between it and the outer sleeve to allow for adjustment. No magic numbers...

Gunsmithing How do they do it?

This is how you hold the receiver ring and still adjust it to get the bolt raceway concentric with the lathe spindle. Galaxy S3 on tapatalk

    Gunsmithing Free float barrel clearance?

I think it depends on the rigidity of the stock in question, but you will be fine with both of the ones you mentioned. If the stock had a flimsy forend and you loaded it up on a bipod you'd want more clearance than normal. Galaxy S3 on tapatalk

Gunsmithing How do they do it?

As said, its not rocket science... They make all different size bushings if you didnt know, if the front is 704 you use a 704, if the rear is 702 you use a 702, etc, etc. The center of those bushings is always the center. No tapered bushings to cock in there, just precision cylindrical ground...

Gunsmithing Help un-dick my chambering method

While I do agree with you that something allowing the barrel to gimble is key, I think he may be hinting at just using something harder than copper to achieve the same thing. Im not sure there is anything to gain from that or not, could be. I think my favorite setup is Gradous' chuck, wire...
