So you're saying the Silencer shop DB readings are correct??

Using these two videos to compare my Ultra 9 to the Sandman. It's showing the Ultra 9 to be louder than the sandman at the shooters ear (146.06db vs 140.20) - somethings not right.

Suppressors Dead Air Sandman vs TBAC Dominus vs Surefire SOCOM

I'm watching a bunch of videos and comparing DB readings from my ultra 5 and 9. Sounds like the 5.56 will be around the same decibel rating as my 5" ultra on my 300 win mag (which is not quiet). Currently thinking about selling my 5" can :cautious: I have a 24" 300 win and a 26" 6.5 that I...

HOLY CRAP!! The guy on the NFA review channel needs to work on his video volume control!! He's whispering at the beginning of the video and I had it turned up pretty darn good to hear him - I have a good set of computer speakers. The he goes to the range for "the fun part". Volume jumps by...

I wonder if it will be quiet enough for me. Anything quieter in the 5.56 variety?

I looked at his site for a little while - little hard to navigate, or maybe it's just my phone. Is there a list of his top tactical suppressors anywhere? Not having luck finding the top 5.

    Noveske SBR Barrel Lengths - 300 BLK & 5.56

Agreed. I missed the word effective in my post. Check out the velocity and energy info I posted above for 300 BLK and 5.56 - posts 9 & 11.

    Noveske SBR Barrel Lengths - 300 BLK & 5.56

It's nice to not have the confusion of two types of ammo in different mags - pretty sure a 300 blk in 5.56 results in a bad day. I also want rifles for two people.

    Noveske SBR Barrel Lengths - 300 BLK & 5.56

Does Noveske make a pistol with a CHF barrel in 300blk? I think I'm only seeing an option for stainless.

    Noveske SBR Barrel Lengths - 300 BLK & 5.56

What is the generally accepted max effective range of a 8" 300 BLK and a 10.5" 5.56? I've been reading stuff all day and haven't been able to nail this down. o_O

    Noveske SBR Barrel Lengths - 300 BLK & 5.56

    Maybe I'm confused a little, but I don't currently have a 12.5" 5.56 - only a 14.5" Good thoughts nevertheless.

    Noveske SBR Barrel Lengths - 300 BLK & 5.56

Data for the 300 BLK 110 Varmageddon doesn't look terribly promising at distance when comparing to the criteria I mentioned above. Max effective range somewhere around 125?

    Noveske SBR Barrel Lengths - 300 BLK & 5.56

But boy it drops in velocity fast! Looks like max effective range is about 110 yards.

    Noveske SBR Barrel Lengths - 300 BLK & 5.56

Based on what I'm seeing, xm193 goes 2750 fps from a 10.5" barrel with 927 ft*lb of energy, which is sufficient velocity and energy for cavitation. Seems like arguments on when cavitation goes away is between 1800 and 2300 fps and 800 ft*lb of energy. Also seeing that 2400 to 2500 fps is...

Shortest 1 Slot M Lok Rail

Guess it doesn't much matter anyway - the Atlas mounts I have are 1.6" long and will cover it regardless.
