PRS Talk Training for my first prs match

The Minuteman League was just started this year and is going great. There is a great bunch of guys running it. I’ll be at the match on the 10th. One thing this league does for new shooters is to allow them to receive coaching during the match. You can declare yourself a new shooter at the...

    New Kestrel® HUD and Kestrel® Ballistics 2700

I think you could do this in real time with a rifle mounted RF. Hard to do pre-stage as you’d need to point the rifle.

    New Kestrel® HUD and Kestrel® Ballistics 2700

I’m looking at it more like an e-dope card that works with your Kestrel instead of a smartphone. Target ranges would all be verified, pre-match if possible, and entered correctly on the target card. In the east we typically are able to range and locate targets before the match. We are shooting...

    New Kestrel® HUD and Kestrel® Ballistics 2700

Perhaps a “Stage Card” could be developed where targets for the stage card could be selected from the range card and exported to the stage card. This way you’d only export the targets you want and not have to clear the range card of targets that will have to be re-entered for another stage. The...

    New Kestrel® HUD and Kestrel® Ballistics 2700

For PRS purposes with the HUD, is there a method for displaying only the targets you want for a particular stage? An example would be only wanting to see solutions for targets C, F, and K from the target card. Is it possible to view those three solutions only or to be able to button scroll...

    6xc or 6xcii

If you want to use Tubb 6xc dies, you need to stay with the original 6xc. It would be best to use a Manson reamer spec’d by Mr. Tubb. Petersen 6xc brass is excellent and priced right. Norma will also work fine. If you decide to use a 6xcII reamer, you will want to use sizing dies by Robert...

    Impact Precision Actions

I received top notch customer service in several dealings with Impact. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to do business with them again.

    Time bank match

Keeping separate times for each shooter seems like a pain in the ass. Especially for local matches with shooters ROing their own squads. If you want to increase difficulty, just use smaller targets.

    KESTREL AB NEED HELP

This is likely why you’re seeing a discrepancy. Bullet manufacturers numbers are not as reliable as the AB numbers and custom curves. Truing the muzzle velocity is just the calculator’s way of lining up the ballistic curve with the actual points of impact.

    Which Atlas bipod cleats?

The Hawk Hill replacement feet work excellent. I wouldn’t bother with any others.

    PRS Talk Brass quantity?

Between Highpower and PRS I shoot quite a bit. I have a lot of about 2000 for Highpower, and I just started using a new lot of 1000 for PRS. I invested in bulk processing tools to market life a bit easier.

So I measued headspace on a bunch of fired cases and... You tell me.

New factory brass is typically a few thousandths under minimum (“0” on your micrometer) to ensure it will work in all firearms. Resizing back to “zero” on your RCBS mic will drastically reduce the life of your brass. You will see case head separations after only a few uses. For best results...

PRS Talk How to own a ND

I’ve been using “plastic in the chamber” ECI’s since they were made mandatory at Camp Perry in 1989. They were made mandatory because of almost exactly the same scenario laid out in the video. I’ve used them in M1’s, M14’s, AR15’s, and bolt guns. Never have I seen a spec of plastic melt into a...

    Discreet Long Rifle Transport Bag?

How long are your rifles? There are guitar shaped, soft padded rifle cases available on Amazon. The name escapes me right now. I have one and it works great for my AR and anything with a foldable stock. I am looking at having a soft case made for my longer non-folding rifles.

    LASIK for Target Shooters

I started wearing glasses at 12yo. I struggled with them my entire shooting career. I had LASIK to correct nearsightednes and heavy astigmatism. It was easily the best money I ever spent. Given your love of shooting, I would go with a distance correction and learn to keep reading glasses...

PRS Talk Negligent Discharges Need To Stop!

Shooters were on spotting scopes when they were told specifically to stay off glass until they had shot the stage. It was reported to the MD and ignored.

PRS Talk Negligent Discharges Need To Stop!

The problem is the money. The high dollar awards and prize table bring out the worst in people. There should be no reason to cheat in the first place. Match directors should be able to count on the competitors to police themselves as RO’s, spotters, and scorers. It’s how our local matches are...

    Primer storage concerns

I don’t store my primers this way, but I’ve got a good one. 35 years ago my Dad decided he would start getting some equipment and components together to reload for his Chief Ammo Waster (me). He purchased a case of Winchester small rifle primers and promptly forgot them in his van. Fast...
