    I use a Vortex Viper pst 1-4 on my 8" 300 blk, I like it because it has hash marks every 2 moa so once I got my dope of supers subs I can shoot anything at any distance. The 300 blk specific reticles are expensive, and they may not match up to the ammo or bullet your barrel likes.

    I'd go with the Ultra 7, that's what my next can will be. I currently use a Rugged Surge on my 260 but I have a Razor that will be approved in a few months that may take its place. Get the 30 cal version as the db difference between it and the 6.5 isn't much to the human ear.

    Vltor MUR with Larue barrel, I have a few and they shoot lights out with no trying needed. My billet Mega upper is just a step down from the Vltor.

    I'm in the same boat and plan to get a range finder first and then Kestral later. Where I normally shoot wind is not too bad, but that will change when I go to different places.

    Powder storage

    I keep mine inside the house in my reloading room (spare bedroom). I'd say above 40 and below 85 degrees should be fine. More importantly I'd be worried about humidity as that can cause any powder to go bad.

    I want to say I saw some factory loaded 308 subsonic rounds at a local gun shop. It could be Beck Ammo, I know they make one or two 223 subsonic loads because I've tried them before.

    New AR-15 build, what caliber?

    I have a 6.8 spc and a 300 blk, the 300 I primarily use for shooting subsonic. I'm currently looking at getting a 6 x 6.8 barrel to replace the 6.8. Nothing wrong with the cartridge I just want to try something different mainly.
