    hand guards with locking tabs, needed or not?

    I have an Armalite compatible upper receiver and I am looking for a hand guard. I can get one from the manufaturer but it does not have locking tabs. Is it necessary to have those tabs (building a 6.5C) or not that important?

    mega receiver combo vs rainier receiver combo

    Mega receiver combo is 577, Rainier receiver combo is 649. Whats the difference in items that makes the Rainier 73 dollars more? I have heard tons of great the things about the Mega Brand but none about the Rainier. Any 1st hand comments would be appreciated. Thanks

    JP's thermal disapator vs a thicker profile barrel

    Someone told me something today that I had never heard before, that ammo has a shelf life. Anyone know if this is true? I remember using 40 year old ammo in the past with no problems but new ammo will not last that long.
