MK 12 Picture & Discussion Thread

This is so similar to my journey but 18” for me. I started with a Faxon match barrel, swapped to a Douglas PRI which made a nice jump in accuracy and I just received a new upper for a thermal fit. I have an MDT SCS on the lower, which I don’t like, and I recently received a B5 precision stock...

Super Trickler experiences? Powder throw thread.

I’ve only had the supertrickler for a few months but I’ve been happy with it. I had the Hornady, then the chargemaster and then decided I wanted to spend less than a minute just to charge and seat one round. I also agree with what secondofangle2 has said about it. It’s not real AI, it’s more...

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

    I don’t know, but I don’t want it.

Fixing the issue is fine, but they’ll need addresses to send the parts to.

Good call! I have the tools and means but I probably would have forgotten about the recesses in the action.

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

I emailed Zermatt yesterday, they replied today that they will send the replacement fixed parts. I get being upset that they may have known this was not a fluke, I think that’s a reasonable reaction. At the same time I don’t know what the rate of the problem is or even that cause and I was not...

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

Here are some pictures from mine #35XX. Round count is an actually 45. I tried to get a decent picture inside the action but it’s not coming out. I’m not sure how much of that smear is grease. I haven’t wiped off any grease from the bolt body either. I haven’t reached out to Zermatt, I’ll get...

Mine is looking similar with only 50 rounds.

Suppressors Alignment rods - steel or carbon fiber

    .002 over 2ft is great.

Suppressors Alignment rods - steel or carbon fiber

Is that .002” per ft for straightness tolerance? That would be very good. I was going to suggest using motion shafts, which typically give you a straightness tolerance of 0.00XX” per ft (or inches) of length on top of the diameter tolerance.

LRT manufacturing makes an arca rail for PRI handguards. I have the 15” handguard and they have been out of stock of that version for a long time so I cut down a JP arca rail to fit. The JP and PRI have the same OD so the rail sits well. I have heard of a report of a carbon tube not doing...

Wet Mounting Scope Mounts - Where It All Started

I didn’t mean that there are instructions to lube your fasteners and then torque to a dry value. That’s quite a leap. What I meant is just that many of the instructions provide dry values (which is standard), while most of the people I know who are knowledgeable in fasteners simply rely on...

B But they still only specify dry torque values.

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

Thanks! The engraving looks the same between them so it sounds like the former (though it’s not unlikely that the differences would be finer than I can see with my eye). But I’ll email the barrel maker for their advice. Worst case, I just save the club ammo for my friend’s .22’s.

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

Question for running a tight chamber. This is my first rimfire rifle. I got padom’s chamber on my barrel and it’s very smooth with eley match and tenex. I got the mag height set where I can run the bolt and I don’t see any deformation except slight marks on the tip of the bullet. But I...

    Rimfire Rifle Photos Thread

It has been a rough week in Pasadena. I got the last bits of this on Tuesday night and spent some time yesterday and today de-stressing by putting it together and loading up some center fire ammo. RimX action PVA barrel Triggertech Special Mark5 7-35 in an MPA mount but I’ll need to swap the...

MK 12 Picture & Discussion Thread

A very “ish” rifle, inspired by the MK12 and RECCE. Some form-over-function extras, because California. I was originally very disappointed with this rifle because the Faxon match barrel didn’t like any ammo. I think I had mistakenly not torqued something down because after I added the OCL brake...

    Made Myself a Tripod Table

This was more of an excuse to design and build than anything. I've barely used it, but it's been a fun build and I actually want to improve it even though I don't have much use for it: You can kind of...
