Elk Hunting Rifles, What are you Using?

Congrats! Two questions. Where did you hunt? Do you know how much that barrel weights by itself? If not, what does the gun weight? Thanks

    Maggie’s Reverse osmosis system

That’s exactly right. Years ago my parents had one installed and it was with in the first year or so my Dad had health issues that were caused by drinking the pure water all the time. We need minerals.

    Time for a recall

Compromising with mentally ill people is the epitome of going full retard; it has never and will never get you where you want to go. The only way it’s directly affecting me is the ATC controllers are considered essential, but they are not getting paid, so they may or may not be instigated...

    Help with 127lrx

My experience shooting Barnes in several rifles, including the 127LRX in my 6.5, is that starting with a clean barrel is a must. That bullet groups just under an inch with R16 as powder in my AR10.

Elk Hunting Rifles, What are you Using?

I vote for an aggressive live trapping program for grey wolves in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming and dropping them off in downtown Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, LA, and Denver. Oh, and make it a felony to shoot one in a city.

    Leupold or vortex

I’ll second this, I really like my Cronus. You can’t go wrong with a Gen II Razor either.

Suppressor increases accuracy (At least this rifle)

This is the second time I’ve seen this issue with the Hellfire system, but the first time with the brake. I’ve had their flash hider cone throw shots with a 308. It will be interesting to see how the 2A brake changes things. A tuner might be worth looking into as well. I appreciate all the...

Suppressor increases accuracy (At least this rifle)

I’m going to the range next week and will try the lighter 2A brake. The fact that more weight with the suppressor makes it shoot better makes me think that this barrel might actually benefit from some upward pressure at the front of the stock; I’ll give that a try too.

Suppressor increases accuracy (At least this rifle)

Here’s the details: Origin short action, 300 WSM, 20” fluted barrel, Peak 44 Bastion stock bedded. This is a lightweight hunting rig and the barrel weighs 2.6#. I’ve kind of been pulling my hair our trying to get better than 1” average groups. I’m not going into detail, but I’ve tried a lot...

So actual threat? Or USSS trying to act like they saved the world?

I love how they always report the “good” stuff they do in nice even numbers……not 103,137 sims cards; exactly 100,000 cuzzzz you know that’s the max number on an Amazon order 🙄. No one ordered odd numbers of SIM cards…… I think 95% of the news is totally made up.

Feeding problem after a new build...

That’s exactly the problem I had with my Origin. I could seat them deep enough to cycle through at home; after the first shot at the range, not so much.

Feeding problem after a new build...

Had the same issue in my Origin action with AICS mags for my 300 WSM. Very careful dremel work with sanding drums from 80 grit to 600 grit followed by a polishing drum fixed the issue.

    Expected 30-30 Win Performance

I use Starline brass with Leverevolution and a Hornady 160 Flextip for a 1.5 moa group. I’ve also loaded some Nosler 140 Custom Competition bullets and shot it out to 600 yards. Of course, only one in the magazine at a time. Those bullets were made for the 30AR I think and are no longer...
