Rifle Scopes Which Crossover Scope would you choose?

Totally agree. I can live with the less than ideal reticle and the weight but the exposed windage is a real killer. I've actually been pestering Vortex (up here in Canada) for a couple years to update that scope, even if it's just to go to capped windage (and preferably swap in the reticle from...

Rifle Scopes Which Crossover Scope would you choose?

I'm of a similar mind, usually run my 4.5-22 between 12 and 15x, 22x only for zeroing. I'm so used to my Gen 3 6-36s (that I run at 15x typically) that the LHT's FOV at 12x feels "normal" to me. I dunno what my hangup about using it on a gas gun was but I got over it, haha. I've been wanting to...

Rifle Scopes Which Crossover Scope would you choose?

Hey OP, I've been going through a very similar decision-making process to yours. Also have a 20" .223 gasser that is my go to for everything (no cans here). Offset Acro takes care of close range and night. It currently has a PST G2 2-10 on it as I try and figure out what it will finally get. Was...

What FPS are you getting out of your 16" barrel 6.5 creedmoor?

I'd say that's quite slow. My go to load in 6.5 Creed is 140 ELDMs at factory COAL (2.200" BTO) with 42.0gr H4350. That gives me 2650 in an 18" barrel, 2720 in a slow 24" barrel and just shy of 2800 in a 26" barrel.

Precision Rifle Gear Let’s Talk Bipods

I think I remember maybe 1 prone stage at the 2019 NRL finale? I've run lots of the available bipods over the years (Harris, Versapod, Accutac, Ckyepod, Magpul, Grndpod) and I think the most versatile bipod out there these days is the lightweight double-pull Ckyepod. More adjustability than any...

Rifle Scopes Is there a market for a good MPVO

6 mil turrets don't really bother me a ton, I'm not a huge fan but don't really find them limiting. I'll grant I don't understand why they went with 6 mil turrets but it's not a deal breaker for me. The turrets aren't great, especially the windage but I don't touch the windage except for zeroing...

Rifle Scopes Is there a market for a good MPVO

I do the same. That being said, when I run a WMRLF, the speed advantage of holding over is a big part of why I want a tree, haha. Yeah, I found myself resisting putting a scope like the LHT on a .223 gas gun but I couldn't think up any real negatives to doing so. Was chatting with a buddy of...

Rifle Scopes Is there a market for a good MPVO

Agreed, having just the center dot or a horseshoe illuminated is much more suited to an LPVO or hunting optic where usability on low mag is a primary consideration vs a "nice to have".

Rifle Scopes Is there a market for a good MPVO

I had a bunch of LRTSi 3-12 and stupidly sold a few but I won't get rid of my last one. I think it's a great optic for a SPR-ish rifle, despite it's relative heft.

Rifle Scopes Is there a market for a good MPVO

Yeah, training and application thing. I get the benefits of the fully illuminated tree but I generally prefer to dial if shooting into dark shaded spot, high contrast, etc. Prefer to just hold wind and not elevation when it's like that. Like I said, I think it's just a preference thing and isn't...

Rifle Scopes Is there a market for a good MPVO

I agree that size and weight are much more important to me than an arbitrary limit on the top end. 2 scopes otherwise being identical, I'd much rather have a top end of 12 or 14 than 10, no question. That's kinda why I've been coming around to lightweight, compact/short optics with higher mag...

Rifle Scopes Is there a market for a good MPVO

I think part of the problem with MPVOs is that everyone has a slightly different take on what their intended use is. Most people will agree that the point of an LPVO is to be able to be fast at close range whilst being able to push out max range (especially with a 8x or 10x top end) but that the...

    Magpul DT-PR Stock

I'm curious to hear how you like the DT PR. I'm probably gonna pick one up to try out. I run CTRs on all my rigs and just started using the Subrevtec bag riders on them. The CTR with the bag rider is 11oz so a wash for weight so if the DT PR locks up as tight, I can see it being a bit cleaner...

    Shorty 223AI Issues - Help

To be honest, if your mk12 load only shoots 1 moa, I'd think something was wrong with the barrel/chamber. Every good load I have for gas guns I can drop in my .223 and it'll shoot 1/2moa or better. I'd try bare muzzle, just to eliminate another variable and then maybe just get a box of FGMM as a...

Vortex Impact 4000 Cold Weather Issues

Using the rechargeables is actually really nice, regardless of cold. I bought 4 of them and I keep one in the Impact, a spare in my bino harness and just swap them around. No more buying 123s for the LRF.

Vortex Impact 4000 Cold Weather Issues

In the big thread on the Impact, the suggestion for winter use is to go with rechargeable batteries, they don't last as long as lithiums in regular temps but do better in the cold, for some reason. That's been my experience as well, granted I haven't used mine in 15F as it's rarely that cold...

    Hornady 76g a tip

I'm the same as you, 75 BTHPs in gas guns and for practice in bolt guns, 75 ELDMs in the bolt gun when I find em cheap or for local matches if I wanna shoot tac. Same powder charge and BTO, both shoot bugholes in multiple barrels. No flyers for me either. It's cool that Hornady have made a...
