Area419 - The ULTIMATE TEST - 2025 Big Boy Precision Optic Shootout

We didn't sell any optics at all for many years. We decided to sell them again for two reasons - 1) Making rings and mounts, it's logical, and 2) We started with them because we thought this new Kahles was crazy and would move quickly. You'll see us, over the course of the next 6 months, add a...

Area419 - The ULTIMATE TEST - 2025 Big Boy Precision Optic Shootout

The internet loves to stand in a circle and chant "FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT" though I much prefer the idea of "GET BETTER, GET BETTER, GET BETTER" I'm in when you are, I'll drink extra coffee for your midnight stream.

Area419 - The ULTIMATE TEST - 2025 Big Boy Precision Optic Shootout

If there's something you've done in this style that I'd overlooked, by all means that's on me. I'll email you though, I have another one in mind that I might pick your brain about, VERY much in your wheelhouse. I'm sure SnipersHide will hate it, but I think it could be cool.

One Piece Scope Mounts ..What do you use?

That's correct, this is for the base/rail connection, NOT the caps. The caps are still listed (and will continue to be listed) at 18 in-lb, though if you use the 20 in-lb Fix-It Stick you'll not hurt anything.

One Piece Scope Mounts ..What do you use?

When we cycle through the packaging. Initially when we made the mounts we set a lower number to be conservative. Over ongoing testing and abuse, the 45in-lb number gives greater security with no downside. We make rolling improvements, however small, on products constantly. It's actually...

Area 419 Micrometer Adjustable Sizing Dies

To clarify, the S-Series dies adjust the same as any other common die on the market. Screw it in a little more or less, and you can adjust. Of course we think a solution like our Modular Shellholder kit with headspace adjustment in the inserts is ideal, or something like the Redding...

One Piece Scope Mounts ..What do you use?

Nope, the fastners are all T20. Interested to know where you saw the T25 so I can correct it.

Mounts - Gray Ops vs Area 419

Email me images of what you're talking about, if possible. I'm curious as to what you have going on here. Craig(at)Area419(dot)com

Mounts - Gray Ops vs Area 419

Aluminum oxide, while quite hard, does not build into a shell, rather stays in a very fine form without meaningful structure. Bare aluminum builds a surface oxide layer almost instantly when raw aluminum is exposed to oxygen.

Mounts - Gray Ops vs Area 419

So I stumbled across something this week - acetone is fine, and does a decent job, but WD-40 is what you really want. If you get aluminum transfer, wipe it off with WD-40, then degrease, and it's a brand new optic. Absolute magic.

Area 419 Micrometer Adjustable Sizing Dies

Oh, never saw this to respond. @JSW2000 noted that it IS hard contact with the die/shellholder. Also, the mandrels are interchangeable to different diameters so you can set different neck tensions.

Area 419 Micrometer Adjustable Sizing Dies

Correct, we are not making and do not plan to do bushings. We think a single-piece sizing body is a better option. And if someone gets upset about that position, it's really ok. There are other options that provide this.

Area 419 Zero Press vs SCA Nexus Press

Screw your die in a little further. We note this specifically in die setup videos but it is often overlooked. TO INSTALL: 1) Ram in the up position 2) Screw die all the way down 3) Drop the ram 4) Screw in 1/4 additional turn And then size. This should get you very close to where you need to...

Mounts - Gray Ops vs Area 419

At the rail? No. Though it makes it mostly irrelevant as the mounting surface for the optic is aligned by the bridge between ring sections. So the whole mount can be off, but the mounting surfaces for the optic will remain true to one another and keep stress out of the connection.

Mounts - Gray Ops vs Area 419

Here, check this out. I talk about what I mean in the video. Basically you want the rings as true to the optics as possible before mounting (via wet mount) to the pic rail so the rings don't settle out of square on pic. Pic is great because things can attach so easily, but pic is not tightly...

Mounts - Gray Ops vs Area 419

In general, it comes down to rigidity and straightness (regardless of brand). If you're attaching to a platform that may not be perfectly true (factory rifles with aftermarket/screw-on pic rails) or super rigid (aluminum AR uppers) then you may be better off with the one-piece setup. If...

Mounts - Gray Ops vs Area 419

If some of the raw aluminum has transferred to the optic (which is common) a little iso alcohol or acetone on a cloth removes it easily. Also, thank you for the kind words @DeathBeforeDismount - anonymous person that I'm unsure I've ever met. You're right though, Dave is absolutely a better...

Has anyone else found the Area 419 Zero Reloading Press Secret Accessory Primer Prison Pocket (A419 ZRPSAPPP)?

Attorney says I can't promise to stuff your holes online, so I wont. Though he did say I could leave the hole there but close it up on one side and act like it's not there, it's more woke. So that's what we will do. Ok, back to spending my days doing awesome shit, much to the chagrin of...

Has anyone else found the Area 419 Zero Reloading Press Secret Accessory Primer Prison Pocket (A419 ZRPSAPPP)?

No, there is not. Again, it's something that negatively impacts a VERY small number of people. If it's a big deal to you, shoot an email to [email protected] and we can change an internal part to block off the chute. You'll have to pack it up, and it may take us a couple days, but we will send...
