    Useless great gun

    Very cool! I considered a barrel shroud and bayonet lug but it's takedown model, and the shroud would prevent the mag tube from being pushed forward for takedown. And the gun was made 13 years before WW1 started.

    I have a 1901 manufactured Winchester model 1897 in 12 guage..... I have no use for the shotgun other than its cool, something 120 years old still functions. Started as a crusty but complete project gun, reblued and furniture has been replaced because the originals were cracked and oil soaked...
