TRG appreciation thread - Part III

Keep looking for a 42/W3. They are out there. Yes. But if you need to adjust head space when transferring bolt an barrel from M995 to 42, the head space will be off on the M995 action if you want to change back. Would be better to get a new barrel in 7mmRM headspaced to the M995 bolt. (Even...

You'll need to control/set head space, but yes.

Load data with Lapua brass: Taken from vihtavuori.com a minute ago. 168 gr SMK. I really don't care. Just exercise caution. For you.

Enjoy it? If you are "cooking" the rounds, you might be a bit low on powder. And if you tell what the loads are someone might comment.

Can a lead sled reflect the accuracy of my rifle and load?

1"@100 yds is good enough. Just practise more until you get a feel for when you know if it is you or the rifle. It might take a couple of thousand rounds, but be diligent and precise in your practice and you'll get there sooner. Also. If the barrel is new, it takes about 50 rounds to settle...

    M995 Action good for anything?

Have a look through this: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/trg-appreciation-thread-part-iii.7137685/ I've built a long range rifle from a M995/TRG-S in a TRG-42 stock/chassis. Some pics in the thread above. It is a TRG-42 action with the top milled of (as previously stated) and as...

Is there a "head stamp"(?) any kind of markings on the screw head? Also. Standard torque for a 8.8 M6 screw is 10 Nm, ~7.4 foot pounds.

I've never seen a 10.9 screw on any of my TRGs. Maybe the A1 is different? Anyway. If the screw broke, I hope you're good to go.

    30-06 Improved Cartridges

When I last looked through Nosler's reloading data for the 280AI. 120 gr bullet, so a bit less BC and a bit more energy.

    30-06 Improved Cartridges

Forgot? Not "aware" maybe. It is also a cartridge that's more of a wildcat of a wildcat, even though it has been around since -69. It is also a cartridge that falls in the category more powder for it's own sake which is quite inefficient. I digress. Yes. Brass growth is one big factor in me...
