Keep in mind 10mm has 2 completely different categories of loads produced for it. The most common makes it effectively a 40S&W. The other are the loads that give the performance that was originally intended, and will certainly find any weak point in the build rather quickly. That being said I...
I've enjoyed it. The book series is really good as well. Craig Johnson the author of the book series it's based off of makes a short appearance in the last season as the guy at the Funeral home when Walt is picking up Lucian Connally's ashes.
Well, I'd have to say I've taken more game and a larger variety with the 375 H&H than any other caliber I've owned. If I had to pick 1 caliber from here out It would certainly be on the very short list.
Mine has a 1:8 twist. When I first built it the 62 grain flat base Bergers that have since been discontinued performed great. The newer Berger 77gr OTM does just as well, and I have gone as low as a 40gr and haven't blown one up yet.
Heavier than I would care to haul around for sure. I'm pretty sure it will take a straight 1.350 with room to spare. More or less anything within reason is fair game.
I had Dave regrind a .308 Bisley for me a few years back, had the free bore shortened up to keep VLDs at magazine length and still be able to get into the lands. Turn around was just a couple weeks.
My best shooting rifle is on a Tac 30. I've used several of them and every one of them did exceptionally well. Also have a drop port Viper in 6.5x47L that I can't complain about. Currently sitting in the safe waiting on parts are a Spectre and a Copperhead ..
I run one with an 8 twist Bartlein. Berger 77gr OTM over 35.5gr of Big Game. I've taken it to 825 on steel. Starts running out of gas so see much movement on the steel, but still does a pretty decent job.
Assuming fiberglass stock. You can always add back to the stock, and refinish. I've significantly modified several stocks to fit stuff they were never intended to. Went from a straight sporter stock for a short 700, and made it fit up to a ruger with an adjustable cheek piece Just to try it...
Not sure which direction it would need to be opened up, but If purely for asthetics I'd be more likely to modify the stock than start cutting the action.
