    8.6 Blk reloading info

First off, many thanks to everyone here experimenting with 8.6 Blackout and sharing your insights. I still think the cartridge has a lot of appeal for both subsonic and supersonic performance. However, the company that introduced it has zero interest in supporting 8.6 Blackout in the...

    8.6 Blk reloading info

You are the first person I’ve seen mention the barrel extension, but that was one of my first thoughts. Revealing my ignorance, do 300 Blackout barrels have different barrel extensions from 5.56?

    8.6 Blk reloading info

Thanks! I didn’t realize Alpha even made 8.6 BO brass and I’ll take their quality over Hornady any day of the week. I have a Fix rifle so the Alpha brass probably makes the most sense. Might grab 250 of the Starline though just as a reserve and for plinking.

I only have 100 Hornday cases I bought from Q and 80 from once fired Gorilla ammo. Should I step up and pay $1.15/case from Q or just go to Starline for 77 cents a piece? With the 338 ARC media blitz, I’m afraid this is the last commercial 8.6 Blackout brass we’ll see.

    45ACP

Generic range round: 5.6 grains of Winchester 231 under a 230 grain FMJ I use Precision Delta bullets but am certain there are other options. This runs reliably in a Les Baer 1911 (gov’t), several S&W .45 ACP revolvers, and a Ruger LC 45 (PCC).

Thanks for your replies. I will get some H110 and SMK 300s, but will start with the 1680 since that is the only “published” load data. I have other uses for H110 so it won’t go to waste. We’ll have to see what my barrel does accuracy wise.

    8.6 Blk reloading info

I read through the starting pages of this thread before ordering a Fix rifle about a year ago. Thank goodness I only paid about 50% of retail for it. Since my can finally showed up, I read the last 5 pages here and confess it’s just depressing. For me, 8.6 Blackout only is interesting as a...

    Sako A III Carbine

Correct on new membership, the rear sight and missing hood. Just to be clear, my cost was $1,215.00 before I dumped all of my Cabelas points. However, Cabelas doesn’t carry much I want to buy anymore and their approach to used gun pricing typically is “I’m gonna price it so high I just couldn’t...

    Sako A III Carbine

I went to the local Cabelas because I’d found a Ruger M77 RSI with a Mannlicher stock on GunsInternational. Didn’t like the finish or 18” barrel for .30-06 on the Ruger, but this Sako started haunting me. Have you ever picked up a rifle, raised it to your shoulder and thought ”This is it!”...

Teach Me About "Tactical" Lever Guns

I built this in part just to annoy the guys over on the Marlin forum: The optic was a mistake - it just sits too high. Otherwise I really like that Primary Arms 2x GLX Prism, and I’m sure there’s an AR somewhere that will give it a home. I’m surprised how much I like the feel of the forend...

Recommend the most American made 30-06 for an elk hunt

Coup De Grâce, New Action from American Rifle Company, $899 WOW!

I don’t mind buying from Optics Planet. Competitive pricing and pretty good shipping. Huge selection And a relatively good search interface. They handled a return of a defective red dot quickly and easily. When an optic disappeared in transit they shipped another one. That required some work on...

    Measuring Headspace on New AR

Can I use once-fired brass as a good indicator of headspace in a new AR-15? I know that in an M14/M1A the brass is still expanding during extraction so spent cases are a no go unless you turn the gas system off and manually cycle the rifle. I've got Hornady's headspace gauge for measuring...
