    Vehicle hail damage question

My truck got beat up a fair bit Saturday morning by up to golfball size hail in southern Indiana, gonna take it to a PDR guy Friday but he told me he's seen a number of vehicles that will require an insurance claim.

BREAKING 01/31/25 6:20PM EST: Plane crashes near Philadelphia mall. ETA: Updates coming in now.

The NTSB seems to think so, based on their probable cause. Yeah CPT appeared to be startled and sitting on his hands and the FO had a history of being weak, but somatogravic illusions are very real.

Two planes collided in Arizona, at least two dead

Two single egine pistons (Cessna 172 and a Lancair 360) hit each other at an uncontrolled airport. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't exactly unprecedented.

    Plane crash At Reagan National

I don't know the update rate of ground-based radar, also don't know what altimeter setting the Blackhawk had set. I do know the NTSB said the FDR of the CRJ700 showed impact at 325' AGL, +/- 25'.

    Plane crash At Reagan National

Not a military helo pilot, but friends who are say for a commissioned Army officer who had a non-flying role for a few years, her hours are ballpark if on the lower side of ballpark. Warrants fly a *lot* more than commissioneds.

    Plane crash At Reagan National

The helicopter was 100-200' higher than they should have been - that's solely on the pilot flying. HOWEVER Why the hell did the Evaluator Pilot allow a 50%+ altitude deviation, during a checkride, especially in that airspace??? Also worth noting - when initially informed of the CRJ over the...

    Plane crash At Reagan National

Yeah stipulated, one controller was working the Victor Tower position for DCA arrivals and also the Uniform Tower position for military traffic, which normally is a second position. As I said before, I'm completely supportive of fully staffed ATC but I also don't think it was causal or...

    Plane crash At Reagan National

I haven't seen any reports that there was just one person in the tower cab (ie. one controller working combined Tower and Ground), only that there is "normally" a controller operating the helos on UHF Tower, while a different controller works DCA arrivals on VHF Tower. I've seen DCA have a...

    Plane crash At Reagan National

If the helicopter was actually on Route 4 (laterally and/or vertically), the accident never happens. If the helicopter actually sees and maintains visual separation from the CR7, the accident never happens. Again, these are normal DCA Vis 1 Circle 33 RJ ops that have happened for decades...why...

    Plane crash At Reagan National

I attribute zero blame in this to ATC. Vis 1 Circle 33 is normal RJ ops at Reagan. Helicopter was twice told to maintain visual separation. Despite the CRJ being lit up like a Christmas tree the helo didn't, and in combination with the helo being where they weren't really supposed to be, 67...

    Plane crash At Reagan National

DCA is literally the most fun airport I've ever flown into, and I will never be a better stick-and-rudder pilot than the day I left the job that based me there. Prohibited airspace, traffic, etc. *forces* you to actually be a damn pilot, not a systems manager...at least in Ye Olden Days before...
