Reloading with the same weight bullet?

Re: Reloading with the same weight bullet? Thanks TJ. I have a tactical mil-mil scope so not every round I load has to be the same. Just thought it might make it easier and less expensive to develop a round that way. Inside a thousand you are right that a lighter bullet would have a...

Reloading with the same weight bullet?

Re: Reloading with the same weight bullet? Eh. Ballistics on light bullets just don't compare do they. 250's look pretty good.

Reloading with the same weight bullet?

Re: Reloading with the same weight bullet? I'm not so worried about the trajectory curve as I can just run the calculator to figure that out pretty easy with enough data. However finding the load that doesn't upset the barrel and group placement seems to be the trick and costs a lot of money...

Reloading with the same weight bullet?

Re: Reloading with the same weight bullet? Thanks Huckleberry. I'll take a look at it. Those G#'s almost sound too good.

Reloading with the same weight bullet?

Re: Reloading with the same weight bullet? That's only from 100 yards at high speed and in the head. I had a 300 grain pass lengthwise through a doe at 350 yards. I have found that you need to be very sure of your background with these rifles. I will have to do some research I guess.

Reloading with the same weight bullet?

Re: Reloading with the same weight bullet? Yes one shot was completely in the rib area. That shot passed in and out of the ribs without touching a bone and the exit wound was smaller than a quarter. The other shot passed through ribs farther back and exited behind the ribs in the gut area...

Reloading with the same weight bullet?

Re: Reloading with the same weight bullet? Looks like the Nosler Accubonds and new ALR's may be my only choice in 300 grain.

Reloading with the same weight bullet?

Re: Reloading with the same weight bullet? That's what I was hoping. I'll back off and work it back up. I'm at 91.5 grain of VN570 now and it slightly compresses when seating the bullet. Any suggestions for consistent and high quality hunting bullets in a high BC? When I hit something I...

Reloading with the same weight bullet?

Re: Reloading with the same weight bullet? Thanks george. I understand your points and the bc change. I was wanting to know about the physical gun and barrel reactions to an exact weight bullet. Thanks.

Reloading with the same weight bullet?

I am shooting a savage 110 hs precision and have been using lapua brass with vn570 and scenar 300. I shot a whitetail deer at 700 yards twice and he walked off. I thought I ranged wrong and missed. Luckily I investigated the target location and found a blood trail. I knew that pass through...

338 Savage 300 gr groups at 286 yards

Re: 338 Savage 300 gr groups at 286 yards We switched to FGM primers this week. I also loaded up some 91.5 gr N570 loads with 300gr Lapua Scenars to try out with seating depths from 0.005 to 0.030 in 0.005 increments. Any more jump results in being shorter than COAL listed on Lapua's...

338 Savage 300 gr groups at 286 yards

Re: 338 Savage 300 gr groups at 286 yards Diego, How did you find your load? Have a link to a ladder test or anything? Did you find that .020 jump was the best? Thanks!

338 Savage 300 gr groups at 286 yards

I need a bit of help. I have measured my three sets of groups today. I was so low on Retumbo that I was only able to get a 4-shot group on one powder charge. I set bullets at the lands and used three different levels of charges. Ladder test was said to show promise around 91 grains via Cory...

    Spin Drift at 1500 yards

Re: Spin Drift at 1500 yards I'm jumping in as a newb. But in case you have not tried it.... Lapua's free desktop software does have SD and the pro version will do Cor Drift, but I also wonder if it is as much as they say. You can also download the Lapua drag tables for most of their...

Range Report 338 LM Savage 1st Ladder (need help)

Re: 338 LM Savage 1st Ladder (need help) I have not found pressure with these loads when jammed so I will have to be cautious. I did see some very slight ejector marks on the 92.8 and 93.4 loads with a 0.010 jump. All of those shots with those powder charges showed those minor markings with...
