Thermal clip on flip to the side options.

The SkeetIR does not support very much mag at all and isnt a very good clip on. RH25 or Voodoo S are your options. Voodoo S is superior but drastically more expensive. The Wilcox mount works well. I am not sure how its zero retention is for non-collinlmated thermals though. My stuff is all...

    6.5 PRC Loads

I would give the barrel a little while Mine sped up over the first 50 rds. I think you will settle on either N565 or H1000. They are ideal for this cartridge and 140 gr class bullets. I have found them to be equivalent in terms of charge weight, accuracy, and SD. The N565 is a bit bulkier in...

    22 creedmoor

While some may disagree, if you were seeing velocities in the 3450+ range with H4350, I do think it may have just been too hot. Pushing an overbore cartridge like this is going to be tough to keep "in tune" if you are pushing pressure limits, the consistency just won't be there day to day.

    .308 Winchester

A reduced load for H4895 or IMR 4895 under a Hornady 125 SST is your huckleberry for this. Shoot for a starting velocity of 2500-2600 fps, and a minimum impact velocity of 1900 fps at your maximum range. They shoot soft and despite the reduced loads are often very accurate.

    8208xbr thoughts

It is an good powder, but has some quirks. It meters better than Varget, but worse than ball powders. Generally best accuracy is obtained near peak pressures, but as noted above it tends to be "peaky," so I would not recommend aggressively going past max loads without slowly working your way up...

The Easy Button for overgassed AR-10s: Bootleg BCG Review

Ahh the return of the $530 rifle that needs a $300+ adjustable BCG and $150 buffer to try and get it to run properly. How has the accuracy been? I would be curious how much percentage-wise that BCG is able to restrict gas compared to other methods though. Also I don't know how changing a BCG...

    Strongest bore cleaner available

Without getting into the endless debates about cleaning frequency or methods, the strongest non-abrasive cleaner I know of for copper more so than carbon is Barnes CR-10. Really smelly stuff but extremely effective for copper removal. Of course abrasives are more powerful than everything else.

    Knights Armament SR25 6.5 Creedmoor

So not sure if you would consider this an option (mainly because so many of the SR-25's are unobtanium) - you could always put a MWS upper on a SR-25 lower. The fit/finish between upper/lower is very good, and complete SR-25 lowers are available from time to time. Chop a 20" SS 6.5 CM barrel to...

    Wilson Combat barrels

I had a Wilson Combat barrel, a 16" 300 BLK with carbine gas. It shot fine and was reliable with supers, but I replaced it with a pistol gas Noveske for improved subsonic reliability. I would say they are a decent rack grade barrel but unlikely to provide custom accuracy. I also have a...

    AR 10 Advice

BTW it doesn't cost that much to get the barrel chopped. Adco can do it for something like $75 + shipping as long as you pull it yourself.

    AR 10 Advice

You would be very well served to heed the advice above. Reliability is superior with a rifle gas system even with 16" barrels. As a bonus they tend to be smoother shooting and tolerate suppression better. A mid-length could maybe be tamed with an AGB and buffer tuning, but sometimes they are...

    243 AR cycling issues

I would be concerned about the APF BCG. Good ejection and extraction is an interplay between being dwell time, appropriate gassing, and extractor geometry, and extractor spring tension. Get any of those wrong and it isn't going to work. Would recommend trying a different BCG if it is verified...

    New here. New build.

Your goals and the multiple calibers you would like to use with a single build are really going to hamper you in refining the rifle for a specific task. It will end up being a jack of all trades and master of none. I especially say this since you mentioned a 338 Lapua barrel for it. Shooting a...

    22 creedmoor

I think that 41 grains of H4350 is a little high for a start point... While everyone's rifle is different, that exceeds Hornady and Peterson's max loads by 3-4 grains FYI.

    Struggling with 5.56

N135 is a better burn rate than N140 for your application. Vihta has improved the temperature stability of their 100 series powders compared to prior, although they aren't as temperature insensitive as the Hodgdon Extreme line. But they are forgiving to load, accurate, available, and not too...

    6.5 Creedmoor 100gr ELD-VT + Varget Load Development

I don't know if you can exclusively blame the powder, yours loads are way, way, way too hot. I have never seen good accuracy or ES/SD from primer blowing hot loads. I mean it literally broke your rifle. I do agree on the results being odd, Staball 6.5 isn't that fast burning of a powder, and...

Quick review of 16" Criterion Hybrid 416R Nitrided barrel, 1:8" twist, .223 Wylde, midlength

Really appreciate the review. I also recently picked up a 12.5" Criterion Hybrid and am hoping it is a shooter too.

About to purchase weapon mounted NV. Opinions please

If you realistically want to shoot critters at 600+ yards and actually know what they are, you will need a REALLY good thermal. ClipIR XELR and Voodoo M come to mind. They are big bucks.

About to purchase weapon mounted NV. Opinions please

There is alot to making this decision. If you have access to a powerful IR illuminator, NV works well for static (IE steel plate) target shooting to long distances. The ClipNV units are good quality and I think they have Elbit tubes of reasonably high spec. That being said you can get retubed...

Rifle Scopes S&B PMII vs. ZCO 527 vs. Kahles 540i

If you are specifically looking for reliability data, that will be hard to get in a statistically significant fashion. Single user data ends up being more anecdotal. I personally prefer Schmidt, a friend of mine is in love with ZCO, etc... truth be told neither of us have had issues with either...
