    McRees Precision G5 TMAG question

Unfortunately I can't let you take a look at mine since I'm from Wisconsin. However, I can let you know that I am very happy with mine. I have my McRees stock on a Rem 700 .300wm with an ER Shaw 22" barrel. The feel and customization is nice since I got my stock with the AR stock adapter as...

Gunsmithing Bolt sticking when extracting round

I have only used factory ammo for it, no reloads. I'm starting to think it's the head spacing that is the issue. I called my gunsmith who installed the barrel and he said he would take a look at it tomorrow. I'll let you know if that was the issue. Thanks again!

Gunsmithing Bolt sticking when extracting round

So I still have this problem. However, I found out more details on the issue so I'm hoping to get some more advice. I checked the bolt and the action and neither have been painted on parts that could cause the sticking. The funny this is that when there is no round being extracted it works just...

Gunsmithing Bolt sticking when extracting round

Re: Bolt sticking when extracting round I did coat the bolt lightly(one thin coat), however it was only on the main cylinder portion and not the bolt face area. In fact, I taped off to about 1.5 inches from the bolt face to make sure I wouldn't get any paint in there. Could this still cause...

Gunsmithing Bolt sticking when extracting round

Hello all, I have recently duracoated my Rem 700 .300WM in a McRees stock. I sealed off the action so I'm fairly confident that paint did not get inside. However, when I try to the pull the bolt back when extracting a round, the bolt is sticking. It seems that while pulling the bolt rear-ward...

Re: LR Scope for .300 win mag under $200? ORD, Thank you for that great explanation. To be more specific, I originally bought my .300 win for hunting in alaska while still retaining the ability to use it in wisconsin for deer and small bear. Now I'm getting more interested in the Long range...

Gunsmithing Shortening a barrel on .300 win mag?

Hello, I have a Rem 700 .300 win mag that I'm looking at getting a custom heavy barrel for. I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not it will be ok to have the barrel made to 22" and still be able to reach out to longer ranges(800yd+) and all while having the mobility for hunting across...

Rifle Scopes LR Scope for .300 win mag under $200?

Hello, I have a Rem 700 .300 win mag that I'm getting some work done on for longer range shooting. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good Mildot scope for under or around $200. Something that will stand against the recoil and have good visibility. Thanks!

Re: Need opinions on this stock... Roggom, Thanks for the advice, will consider it. Having been in the military, I don't mind carrying that much weight(or more) through the woods.

Re: Need opinions on this stock... Ultraman, That still is a bit out of my price range. How does something like this look for the money ( Hogue Remington 700 stock )?

    Need opinions on this stock...

Re: Need opinions on this stock... Greg, Point taken, thanks. The main reason I'm not going to swap out for something less powerful is because I still want to be able to use it for large game hunting in the future. It seems like the limbsaver is the best bet from what I've been hearing.

Re: Need opinions on this stock... Roggom, It is a sporter contour. Another issue I have is that I am planning on getting a heavy barrel so I'm not sure if I should still get a brake on it. Also, I have to get a new stock anyways once I get the new barrel. Thanks for the help, I think I'll...
