    Removing surface rust

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll try the WD40 route and the Cerakote finish on one of the rifles with less family history and see how it comes out. I'll post some pictures once I get the first rifle completed. Thanks!

    Removing surface rust

My parents house was recently flooded and several guns were damaged in the flood. My father asked me if I could restore the guns and I said yes without really knowing what I was getting into. Most of the damage is water staining on the wood stock and surface rust on and in the barrels. I am...

    Semi Auto Rifle Lubricants

I've used a variety frog lube, clp,etc.... I found mobile 1 bearing grease works the best. Stays in place and doesn't allow carbon build up on bolt and pin. Ultimately it is what you feel most comfortable using.

    AR-15 Barrel Selection

Thanks for the offer! I'll have to keep my eye open. Can you shed light on the bull barrel design. Aesthetically I like the barrel, but are there any advantages or disadvantages to the design?

    AR-15 Barrel Selection

Slick rig, A bolt gun is in the plan as, but the reason I bought the lower is because I live in MD and after October 1 I will not be able to buy another lower. At first I told myself that I would throw the lower in the safe and eventually build it, but as time passes and I have time to think...

    AR-15 Barrel Selection

I am looking to build an accurate AR. I would like this rifle to be very accurate and be able to shoot out past 500 yards (I have been told this is possible when properly set up). I have been looking at several barrel options, but I cannot find anything that discusses the benefits/drawbacks of...

    LMT Bolt Carriers

I spoke with an armorer in Virginia about this and he said that Young's uses a drop of lock tight on the gas key screws and they feel it is sufficient. He also said there was a risk of the chrome finish chipping/flaking off of the bcg if the staking is sloppy.

Hopefully it will go well with the 20" varmint barrel I want to put on this new rifle.

    LMT Bolt Carriers

A buddy of mine wasn't sure if the bolt was proprietary to the barrel, that's why I ask. Ideally I'd like a Young's Nation Match bolt, but things are slim pickings right now.

Are the bolts proprietary to their barrels?

    LMT Bolt Carriers

Anyone have experience with these bolts carriers? $190 for a phosphate finished bcg, are they worth the money? Thanks

    Mega AR Range Report

Yeah getting a suppressor in Maryland would be like trying to get water from a rock, it's a long and very painful process, which I heard is at least a year wait. As for the brake, i'm not looking to put myself in the poor house for a muzzle brake. I'll shop something out and have to try out a...

Help: Who is the manufacturer of this Bolt Carrier Group?

Where did you buy it? A lot of times local shops put their logos on other manufacturer's bolts. Example I have a Young's bolt with a Lanco tactical logo laser engraved on the carrier.

    Mega AR Range Report

I was shooting run of the mill 55-grain PMC ammo. I run a JP tuned extra power carbine buffer spring and carbine buffer. As for the brass it was piling up about 6-8 feet away. Luckily I was shooting outside so the sound was as punishing as it would be if I were shooting inside. I'm gearing...

    Mega AR Range Report

So I finally got to take my AR to the range and put it through her paces. I "finished" building it a few months ago and by finished I mean I had a functioning rifle. Since December I have taken it to the range several times to see what I want and to get comfortable with the rifle. I finally...

    Geissele triggers

Sounds like the hammer spring is in upside down. A buddy of mine had a similar problem with his trigger (not geissele), but when he pulled the trigger it sounded like it was striking twice. Pulled the lower off the upper and when we pulled the trigger you could see the hammer bounce when he...

    Got my AR15, now what?!

Get out and shoot! Meet some guys at the range and talk to them. If you are lucky they'll let you take a few shots with their rifles and then you can figure out what you like to do. Either way a good trigger is super important for anything you do. Have Fun!!!
