Question for you reloaders on Load Dev

Agree with rustyinbend, but if this is for hunting you also want to track what that first shot does. Some rifles/loads will have a repeatable difference on the first shot, and if that is your kill shot you want to know exactly where it will go. You can also try to work for a load and/or barrel...

Whats the optimal freebore for a 6mm Creedmore?

.130 is on the short side if you are shooting heavier 6mm bullets (can’t speak to the ones you specified, I don’t shoot them). But i also think the SAAMI freebore is too long. Last time I had barrels done, I loaded rounds to what I wanted and had the smith adjust it. I think I ended up in the...

choosing a bullet for 6 creed

I could never get the SMK to shoot consistently in my 6 Creed. I hae had great results with 110 ATip, 109 Berger LRH and the 109ELD. The Berger and the ATip have better BCs and will perform better past 600 yards or so, but the ELD has worked for me, too.

    Load development 50 degrees

I’m current;y doing some work on a couple of new barrels, and it’s in the 40s. My solution is to load the mags in advance and keep them warm in my pockets until ready to shoot. Not a perfect solution, but at least the rounds aren’t chilled to ambient temp.

    Sako TRG in 260 Remington?

I have a TRG that was originally chambered 260 Rem. Shot great, went through a couple barrels as a 260. Currently chambered in 6 Creed, still shoots great. I have a new 260 barrel in the attic in case I want to switch back. There’s nothing about the TRG magazine that changes what...

    Sartorius Entris 64-1S Drifting

I use a Furman PST-8 but I can’t really say if it is better or worse than others, it’s the only one I have used. I originally got one for some electronic equipment, then got another one for reloading.

    Sartorius Entris 64-1S Drifting

IIRC, the instructions recommend turning it on a couple hours before use to let it get to a stable temperature. But I also run a line conditioner. On a bad day, I see maybe .010 drift, usually it is .006 or less during a loading session.

Shooters Global Pulse -> electronic level -shoot diagnostics tool

Thanks. Looks like there may be even greater adjustability than the Send-it level.

Shooters Global Pulse -> electronic level -shoot diagnostics tool

Is the adjustability of the Pulse on sensitivity and cant comparable to the Send-it? That was my biggest question when I saw this, and I didn’t find anything in the product info that addressed this.

    Bartlein New Barrel Material 400MODBB

I am using a mix of 110gn Atips and 109gn ELDs. The first 1k rounds or so were mostly Atips, more recently it’s about 50-50. I am using the ELDs for PRS style matches and the Atips for our club long range matches. Powder is H4350.

    Bartlein New Barrel Material 400MODBB

I'm near the end of my first 400MODBB barrel in 6CM. With my last 2 (regular) barrels in 6 Creed, the barrels would slow down around 1000-1100 rounds. They would then continue to shoot well for another 500-600 rounds or so, and then either slow down more or start to throw fliers. So basically I...

120 TTSX Load Dev for 6.5 CM?

I run them in a 260 rem, close but not exactly the same as the 6.5 CM (a little more case capacity). I run them at 42.7gn of 4350, but the load for a 6.5 CM would likely be a little less because of the different case capacity. I have always had best results with the Barnes bullets around .050...

*MDT Crush IT Stage Timer* Now Available

Hmmm . . . Would neodymium magnets have an adverse effect on either the Send-It level or the Crush-It timer? That might be an easy way to piggy back the timer on the level. I _think_ that would be better than Velcro, although there would still be some risk to losing it in tight quarters.

Hornady .264 (6.5) ELD - how far off the lands & grooves?

I haven’t shot the 130s, and like others I have found the ELDs to be pretty forgiving, but I get the best results at .050-.060 jump to the lands.

US test centers, experiences, post test, etc.

It’s been a couple years since I sent my gun in, but at that time the default was that they would put your gun in a fixture that matched your action, but you could request that the testing be done with the gun in your stock and they would do that. I just sent in my barreled action, and the gun...

Lapua Center X trending higher over time?

I don’t have solid data, but I will say that I stopped shooting the lot of Center-X that I have when the temp drops below 60F because the speed drops off noticeably.
