    Rifle Scopes Riflescope purchasing

All fixed power scopes are first focal plane. Op. You are leaning in the right direction with the SWFA SS 10x42 it gives a good bang for your buck at your current budget. A good shooting buddy if mine used one on his .270 for awhile with no issues with tracking or zero. He has since moved it...

    Who here has given up....

I believe LRRPF52 said it best in regards to the 5.56. I do not agree when the 5.56 is described as "mousy". When I was in the marines, there were plenty of nay sayers and 5.56 bashers. In my experience their opinions were unfounded, and based off of what their drill instructors told them in...

    MK12 MOD-0 LETS SEE EM!

Here is mine, not a 100% clone, but good enough for my tatste. -PRI upper -PSA lower - RRA varmint trigger - leupold mark 4 3.5-10x40 m3 She shoots to PRI's 1moa standard. I have only 50 rounds of 77gr factory and hand loads down range at this point, but perhaps she will tighten up when I get...

Wierd thing happened at the range Saturday

I use a public range frequently when I am unable to utilize the land of friends and I am pretty satisfied with it. Most people there are safety oriented and nice. We have our commandos and know-it-alls as well though. I remember not too long ago a guy came out there with a brand new Barrett M82...

Range Report M1 Garand at 1000 yards

Reading this thread was a good way to start my morning! While I have not dabbled in vintage rifles (at least, not yet!), I can definitely appreciate the skill behind shooing like this, and also the history and craftsmanship behind such a fine rifle as the Garand. Good shooting sir!

    Probably a semi stupid question

I would say just try JBM ballistics. It's an online ballistics calculator (free). You can edit just about every detail you could conceivably account for. In your case yardage increments. If you'd like, instead of 50 yard increments, try 25, or even 10 if it suits you. After you have your data...

What distances are you shooting your 260's

I've shot mine out to 700 (kind of seems insignificant to the 1350 posted above) and it was definitely well within the caliber's capability. It took 4.7 mil of elevation from my 100yd zero to get there. If I could shoot any farther I'm sure I could reach something closer to that 1350 with some...

    Conversion to 260 dilemma

.260 is an excellent caliber. I own a Surgeon Scalpel .260 in a AICS 2.0 and it flat out shoots. Since you'll be reloading, it's great for the quantity of .308 brass you already have. I pretty much reload exclusively for my .260 now and I would say it is pretty easy to tune a great shooting...

    Rifle Scopes Entry Level Optic

+1 for the SWFA 10x. A good friend of mine uses one for his mossberg .270 hunting rifle. It is an impressive optic for the money, am should fit your bill for entry level optics. I am in the process of souping up a hunting rifle for my wife, and I am seriously considering this particular scope...

lets rate range finders by price

$2000+ I say go with the Vectronix Vector IV. Europtic has them for $13,200. I used a Vector 21 in the service and it would easily range anything within 6 klicks, some more reflective objects out to 7+! Hook it up to a DAGR GPS and it will tell exactly where the stuff you range is on the earth...

    Mk12 (SPR) bipod question

Definitely the Harris 6-9". Will it allow enough clearance for a 30rd mag on a level surface? No, but it is the spec bipod. You'll have to extend the legs to get the most out if it with the 30 rounders.

    Euro Optic... The Shooters Choice

My last two optics purchases were from Eurooptic, and any future purchases will more than likely be from him as well. His site keeps growing and I'll probably buy some shooting accessories from him as well!

    5.45 X 39 Comparisons.

AKs are good guns for sure. Better than many will give them credit for, but an AK74 cannot and was never designed to be able to use 5.56X45 interchangeably with 5.45X39. The soviets had their own supply chains and wouldn't waste R&D time and money on the hopes of overrunning American units and...

    Long time lurker turned newbie

Hi all, Like the title says I've been lurking on this site for a couple of years now and finally decided to become a member. I spent sometime as a Marine (actually that's where I got hooked on the long range stuff!), a short stint as a cop, and now a welding student. I'm halfway through my...
