AXSR POI shift with caliber change.

Here’s my AT from some point in the past when I had a bunch of barrels in rotation +2 mils of elevation and +2.5 mils of windage @ 100 yd Numbers are in mils, so you’d have to do the math to convert the differences to inches if you wanted… was solid repeatable though…once I had them...

    Fix belling of lip

I quoted and responded to Diggler because I was answering his question in post #15 , not the OP ;) The OP has a belled and crushed mouth, looks like multiple issues going on from over sizing/bad die set up/over tumbling This is what the problem Diggler asked about looks like… Fired 223...

    Fix belling of lip

its from sizing your brass down too far in one shot and yes, the bell is the part that actually matches the bushing diameter, the neck overshoots and doesnt spring back unless you have a custom made, cant be fixed with a standard full length sizing dies...unless you mandrel/leave the expander...

    Bullet Diameter vs Velocity

Itll make more sense when you stop thinkin of strictly bullet weights and more along the lines of bullet weight relative to caliber 80gr in 22cal is on the heavy side for caliber 80gr for 6mm is on the light end 105 for 6mm is on the heavy end 105 for 6.5 is way on the light end And it...

Berger 105 Hybrid Target VS Hornady 105 Aeromatch: PART 1 - Dimensional Consistency

solid info id be curious how different lots of bergers compare to your base lot of bergers as you buy more over time...in just bench measurements in the past ive had bench measurable differences from lot to lot in bergers i thought was going to be significant when shooting them, but on paper...

Wet Mounting Scope Mounts - Where It All Started

ive posted this in past threads on this, but ive tested lubed rail vs not a few different ways if youre the type to set the rings on the rail, apply forward pressure to seat the recoil lug and just start tightening the screws...depending on how much play the clamp piece has with the screw...

Is lubing the neck really required?

Resurrecting with additional data… I had changed brakes on this rifle and finally went to rezero it again…same left over ammo mentioned above from when I stopped shooting comps at the end of 2020 fired 2 rounds, adjusted, next 8 punched out the 1/2” dot it was cooler for south tx around 60°...

    6.5 Creedmoor Brass NOT CHAMBERING

Next time it happens you can probably run it thru a 308 die with the expander stem/ball removed first so it just knocks down body taper… works with my Redding dies Then run it back thru the creed die After doing that once it should work normal in that rifle after that just sizing with the...

How Often and Under What Circumstances To Check Zero?

one of the biggest headaches a scope gave me was it would track perfect dialing counter clockwise, but would come up .2-.3ish mils short dialing clockwise, unless you over shot your mark and dialed back counter clockwise i thought i noticed something at the end of a match, kind of ignored it...

How Often and Under What Circumstances To Check Zero?

im meaning "return" in this case with RTZ in reference to the optic alone but in a rifle system, both returning and retaining carry equal weight...returning to zero can be a test of the optic itself... retaining zero requires the mounts and rifle to not throw a wrench into things...mounts cant...

How Often and Under What Circumstances To Check Zero?

also to add... tracking and RTZ are non negotiable in my book if my personal scopes dont do those 2 better than my ability to test/verify them...they arent useful and none of the other features or cost matters after that lol

How Often and Under What Circumstances To Check Zero?

it used to be talked about more, there were entire threads for tracking testing and RTZ...people could send their optic to the tester who ran the thread even but my scope tracking and holding zero doesnt mean anything for anyone else with the same optic...each user needs to test their own scope...

How Often and Under What Circumstances To Check Zero?

Can be I’ve seen it from cloud cover moving thru on shooter vs targets Or sun behind the shooter where a shade wouldnt help Lighting and mirage kinda work together depending on how they interact, can really Throw a wrench in things sometimes…but in these cases there wasnt much mirage visible...

How Often and Under What Circumstances To Check Zero?

manyyyy factors here...and most are being mentioned... there are multiple inputs to a rifle/optic/shooter zero and how/when they matter depends on the quality of each of those 3 to start a shooter needs to check it as often as required for them to feel confident in their system in the real...

Jon Berry used to run a hot rodded 7wsm off and on Bannon Eldridge won a 1 day Tx Precision match in College Station w/ a 300norma but the answer to your question is pretty much no one, unless to prove a point like done above lol
