Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Bushnell LMSS w/ Horus reticle, I love that thing. When a solid rail-mounted 1280x960ish 50mm+ lens <20 mK NETD thermal clip-on w/ good integrated LRF hits the market I will be sending the Impact 4000 back to the spotter.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

I had mine on the my LMSS day/night spotter setup for quite a while and it is fantastic in that role. Add a micro red dot sight, long range IR illuminator/laser/green laser, and a forward rail for the PVS-27 and holy shit.

    Tangoinnos Fire4000

Good to hear, I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts on it. The screen looks great. I'm curious to see how well it holds zero. I only trust my Impact 4000 zero since I put it on a gas gun while running drills for a while and then checked zero afterwards. I was shocked to find it in...

Steiner C35 Gen 2 - Initial range trips and first hunt - Updated 9/30 with third hunt

Yep. If the mounting system for that device wasn't pants on head retarded (for the US market) I'd buy one to supplement my gen 1 that gets whored around on like seven rifles. I don't understand why this is so difficult for Steiner to get squared away. Take the gen 2 C35 and give it a sturdy...

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

Agreed. I was excited about the gen 2 until I saw the hardware situation. I love the shit out of my gen 1 and use it every single week. That thing works great, has a killer image, and intuitive controls. I routinely shoot small moving targets and it does not miss a beat. For a thermal...

US domestic air travel with thermal spotter and clip on

Flown domestically w/ thermal clip-ons and NVDs many times, no real issues. When the x-ray scanner found the extremely radio-opaque counterweight, it did trigger a bag search.

Best clip on thermal for the money

I'm a big fan of the gen 1 Steiner C35 which still come up on the used market. It is one hell of a clip-on, equal or superior in almost every way to my much more expensive mil-spec AN/PAS-13G. I use it as a clip-on at least once a week and in a handheld role multiple times per week using a...

    Rifle Scopes SWFA Teasing Announcement?

If they can manage a durable fixed 10x with zero stop, locking or capped windage turret, 10-15 mil tree (ideally a skinnyish tree, not some monstrosity) reticle with the same thick outer posts as the OG mil-quad, and glass quality that doesn't fall apart at dusk, all without radically altering...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Thank you for continuing to post here w/ helpful, technical details. Just a couple days ago, I was considering a 45 degree left side mount on a rifle due to some peculiar geometries on that gun. This was insightful as always.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

The big thing I was wondering before picking one of these up a few weeks ago was how well they hold zero. So far mine has been perfect in that regard. Lots of dry cycling an AR at first and then I kept it on while doing up drills. Yes, it's only 5.56 but the AR platform cycling and vibration...

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Thanks for sharing this with the community, please provide updates as they become available. I have zero doubts that Vortex will get you squared away, but I am very interested in whether or not this becomes a recurring issue. My hope is that it is an isolated defect, those are going to happen...

Rifle Scopes Anyone with situational awareness or insider knowledge of when SWFA will drop the new fixed power scopes with the new reticle?

I've wanted a mil Christmas tree reticle SWFA 10x with zero stops and covered (optional, apparently) windage for a long time, this is good news.

Steiner C35 Gen 2 - Initial range trips and first hunt - Updated 9/30 with third hunt

It looks like I will be sticking with my gen1 if there is no rail mount on the horizon.

Night Vision Recommended scope options to get the most out of my simrad

Yes. The black reticle usually contrasts sufficiently with the green image unless you are shooting into shadows. If your optic has a dreadfully thin reticle, then your mileage may certainly vary.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Thanks for mentioning that. I've been wondering how everyone's Impacts are holding zero with recoil and time. Can anyone else comment on whether or not your Impact has held zero and what caliber(s) it has been used on with approximate round count? If any are shifting, are we talking large or...

    Thermal Scope vs Clip on

Your post has inspired me to integrate NV into my 300 WM. I intentionally left space for my Mk11 SIMRAD cap should I decide to do NV shenanigans with it in the future. This place is a bad influence

Night Vision How important is rail position for clip-on thermal use?

I haven't noticed the AN/PAS-13G or Steiner C35 to be too picky in that regard. That said, when I want to have something to index on for rails I just put a rail ladder or something comparable over the slots that I don't want it on.

Night Vision Vortex Impact 4000 Rifle/Rail mounted Range finder???

Depends on conditions and target size, of course, but it is doable. That said, I predominantly use WMLRFs at night with a clip-on where it would be even more difficult to use a MRD in this capacity. I don't usually dial unless I'm outside my speed drop range or the target is TINY. I like...

Spotting Scope TriPod Recommendations (for a heavy Vortex)

Please update the thread if you find something that truly fits the bill. I'm looking for the same type of thing for my Bushnell LMSS/PVS-27 spotter setup. After adding MRD, LRF, and illuminator, it should be around 9 lb but I haven't weighed everything yet. The tripod I'm currently using...

Night Vision Flir hiss and other assorted night time goon goodies

For those that have used both, how does the HISS XLR compare to the INOD type devices when it comes to image quality and features/useability?
