I am about to mount a Vortex, Gen 3, 1-10, on my AR. Should I go with 0 or 20 MOA scope mount? I don't intend to shoot over 400 yards. Opinions are appreciated.

0 is fine if you don’t intend to shoot past 400 - I’d think you need the 20 past 1000 or so on a 308.

There’s very little harm in going 20 moa either, all of my guns have at least a 20 on them. You start seeing more complications in the 30-50 moa mount range.

0 MOA will get you past 600 yards on most scopes. Assuming AR15 20" barrel, a 77 SMK MK262 is sonic to about 750 to 800 yards. I'd have to dig out my rifle to tell you how where my scope tops out and what range it should be.

0 MOA will be fine for what you want to do. A 20 MOA could be helpful if you ever plan to shoot longer ranges, as it will help give your scope more usable adjustments. I have 20 MOA mounts on my 6.5 Grendel and 6.5 Creedmoor that are intended for more long range work, but my 5.56 rifles all have 0 MOA mounts.
