First off, everthing was packed good. I got the stock out and checked it over. Fit and finish looked good. The instructions to mount the stock are very easy. It bolted up to my remington 700 solid. I bought the spacer kit for the LOP. I used all of the spacers. The bolts included where not long enough in my opinion. They need to be 1/2" longer. Also I got one of MDT's poly mags. There is an issue with the feed ramp of my rifle and the tip of the bullet. The tip sticks out under the feed ramp. I'm not sure if I want to grind on my feed ramp or try metal mags. The Oryx feels and looks good. I'll report more Saturday, weather permitting.

First, thanks for the update! Second, WE WANT PICTURES!!!!! (Think of us as small children being read stories, just not the same without the illustration). Third, the tip sticking under the feed ramp is an OAL/feed ramp issue. You might have better luck with a different mag, but likely you'll either need to change your load or mill/Dremel (friends don't let friends Dremel rifles, not the metal parts anyway) a recess into the feed ramp so the tips clear. For sure, try some of your buddies mags first before cutting on your gun.

The only issue I see with the Oryx is you can't put a full length ARCA rail on the fore end as it isn't all on the same plane. I was ready to give one a shot for a Tikka build until I saw that.

I didn’t notice that. That really stinks :/ kind of a deal breaker for me as well.

I had a similar issue with a Magpul 700 stock when switching to aics magazines. Small burr bit to notch then polished all the edges. Works great.

Glad to hear that you're mostly* happy with the Oryx! I am curious on which magazine, caliber and action setup you're running that you found rounds were having rounds get stuck under the feed ramp?

TBH we never intended for shooters to run full RRS dovetails on the underside of this chassis, but were surprised when it came up! Maybe we do a more competitive focused Oryx in the future that features a full length RRS cut? What do you guys think?

I’m sure I can speak for many people when I say having an Arca/RRS cut in the chassis system in the future would be a huge plus. And those that wouldn’t use it, it’s not like it changes the chassis dramatically. It will just not be used. Definitely a great chassis at a good price point.

I originally wanted a full length ARCA rail but now I'm not sure. For me I'd be using this chassis to make a dead simple, rugged rifle. To me it'd almost be like a truck gun. If I'm doing that, then adding a rail, which would require an adapter for my bipod, it would be added expense and complexity. I'm the kind of person that wants to buy all the cool sh*t so not having that capability means I'm less inclined to spend what would be about 1/4 of the chassis value on additional accessories.

This opinion is of course tailored to my specific situation. I have a different gun for competitions and such. I am in no way against the idea. I'm more addressing the comments about it being a deal breaker. My position personally is that I don't see it not having that capability as a big liability.

Of course ymmv.

Mdt poly mag 6.5cm remington 700. I'm thinking the thickness of the back wall of the mag is putting the nose of the bullet too far forward. That is why I'm thinking about a metal mag with the plate up front.

Range day. I set up at 100 yards to check zero. Windage was good, elevation was .3 mils high. I rezored and all is good. I ran a 50 round box of Hornady 140gn American Gunner through it with one FTF. The tip of the bullet nose dived into the mag. Over all I'm very happy and would recommend the Oryx to anybody. Even gun snobs.
