I wanted to have a thread protector that also protected the crown of the barrel for my truck gun. I made this up in FreeCAD and had shapeways print it. I used black hp nylon plastic for heat and pressure resistance. I designed it with a slight interference fit so it won't back out. It has a .300 ID to ensure plenty of clearance. Shown on a Ruger American Rimfire with a 3/4" (at the beginning of the threaded portion) threaded barrel. I put about 300 rounds .22lr through it with no issue. Note: I wouldn't put this on anything more than a .22lr.
