I got excited to see the new Viper HS series. Then I noticed the 1/2" moa elevation adjustment. I did a lot of searching with out much luck.

Any drawbacks to 1/2"? or advantages?

drawback, cannot be as precise as 1/4 of course, advantage, if not using hold off and are dialing in your elevation, quicker to proper elevation adjustment, les clicking, less turret rotation.

Pretty much summed it up with that.

If your going to shoot at distances past 300 yd or so, this will probably hurt you quite a bit because your adjustments are very minor once your almost on target at longer distances. I think 1/4 MOA adjustments are as far as you would want to go and still be precise but that's just me. If your not worried about holding over a small amount if you can't get directly center on your target, then 1/2" should be ok

With 0.5 MOA clicks, the most error you can possibly have and not be able to correct to a smaller error is .35 MOA diagonally off of target (.25 MOA high or low and .25 MOA left or right - any larger error than .25 MOA but smaller than .5 MOA, one click in that direction will result in an error smaller than .25 MOA).
