Rifle Scopes 1 X 4 Scope recommendation needed

I need help with this one since I am new to scopes. I have a Berreta slug barrel with a fixed rail for hunting and I would also like to use it on my AR. I want to stick with one that starts with just the 1 power for quick target pick up at close range. I can only find the Nightforce or Trijicon for this application. Which would you recommend? Thanks

NF with the FC-2 reticle, very fast, tough scope, I love mine it sees targets from 5 yards to 600 with no problems

I have two Trijicon Accupoint 1.25-4x and Burris XTR 1-4x24. Would recommend any of them.

IOR makes a 1-4 with their CQB reticle, it has holdovers similar to an ACOG. They are on the samplelist.com for 700 bucks. Not sure if that reticle would work well on a slug gun though, you'd have to look it up to make sure. Something like the trijicon would probably be better for that.

Trijicon Accupoint for the price with DAYTIME bright illumination.

Nightforce are very well built.

Swarovski 1-6x are very nice and DAYTIME bright dot.

Vortex HD 1-4x built really solid. I'm not a big fan of FFP 1-4x scopes but this Reticle works.

USO 1-4x are very solid also and they have some nice RET that also work well for a FFP scope.


If cost was not an issue I would like at the Swarovski 1-6x.

In my opinion you owe it to yourself to wait a bit for the SS 1-4 models, or the Vortex 1-4. Both should be out within the next few months I'll bet and look very promising. Got a chance to handle and shoot with both the SS ones and they are very impressive from what I can see.

It is obvious that the five people that posted prior than this have less knowledge than I do because they could not offer any intelligent imput. Instead I can only assume that they have nothing else better to do than try and pick a quarrel with someone. I admit my lack of knowledge and that is why I asked this question. And yes I know about google and that is how I got the pricing. But it did not tell me where it was made. As for the poster that I told to start his own thread I think the answer is simple and any further explanation would not be understood. I might consider a $300 scope on a pellet gun but not a $3500 AR. And about my basement if you had a modicum of any kind of knowledge you would know that my house is on a slab.

Congratulations, in 12 short posts you have made a name for yourself here. Exactly where in your post does it state you want expensive, which apparently to you equivocates to high end. From your post all I can infer is that you are looking for a 1-4 optic to use on two (2) separate guns, an AR and a shotgun, which you misspelled Beretta by the way. So when Shay, a contributing member of this site, actually gives you intelligible and viable input per your request (See above original vague-ass post), you get snippy and then think we are pecking a fight because you have been rude and in the wrong. Tell you what buck, your going to have a rough ride around here.

Actually hoss, if you have a $3500 AR and don't have a clue what glass to put on it you are pretty susceptible to snake oil.

You aren't knowledgable, you are another person parroting what you read.

There's plenty of Millet DMS scopes running on high dollar rigs, or have you never heard of 3-gun?

If you gotta spend money to feel good, get a USO. If you think its too heavy, get a gym.

I would have to agree with witch doctor this guy needs to simply get off this web site if he thinks with eleven posts he can badger some of the better people on this site. Shay brought up a good point in his question. This guy is all tweaked and proven dumb shit because of how he responded. And just so this shit head knows I have been shooting in the top 20% in the club 3-guns with a -$300 scope on a high end custom built AR so once again he has proven not to know anything.

Another thing, if you have some high end $3,000 + rifle then why are you wanting one scope for two guns?
If you knew anything about rifles and scopes then you would have known it might be better to run two less expesive scopes than one higher end model and switching between rifles. JMHO
Save up you cash and buy two scopes, one for the slug gun and one for the AR. And to even start a bigger can of worms have you given any thought on which mount you wish to use?

Way to be courteous above and beyond what is necessary.

As most of us know there are several very good scopes in the $3-400 price range and an even greater number from $7-1100. We also know that this question in one form or another makes up 75% of the optics forums on any board you care to go to. If the OP were remotely as capable at reading those forums as he is at acting like a douchebag that even airsoft wannabes would make fun of, he would have most all the information he needs.

Hey tried one of the Millet 1-4's because a local shop basically gave it to me in trade. I put it on a loaner 16 AR for classes and let studenst handle it. It has heald up well for money. Illumination is not bright enough but for under 300.00 nice option. I worry it might fail with recoil of 12ga with slugs though. For AR15 yes and for shotgun I dont know

Now I have beaten the crap out of a NXS 1-4 for years now and can not break it. Damm fine scope and sure this would hold up to shotgun as well. One of the best I have tried so far for 1-4s

Leupold 1.5-5 is a real nice option as well and price is not bad either. Beaten these fairly regular and no problems

Waiting on 1-4 SS to arrive

Saw prototype of the new Vortex and liked what I saw but cant say if it will hold up or not. I will take a look at ones at shot and get back to you.

I had a millet dms, it was fine although a bit large.

Also, I forgot to mention it before but KWAK if you're reading this Nikon makes a really good 1-4? scope for blackpowder and slug hunting, it has a pretty effective BDC reticle and it's only 200 bucks if I remember right.

I would not swap a scope between two different rifles.

Shay, I am not angry. I also do not consider myself any better than others because I can purchase something more expensive. The quality of the purchase has nothing to do with the person who made it. I will tell you that if I have offended you in any way I am sorry. An apology offered with an excuse is not an opology but I will offer an explanation. This applies to all forums. When someone else asks a question that has nothing to do with the orginal thread it makes a mess. Most threads start with a question and are looking for an answer. I stated my application and the question only had two answers, Night Force or Trijicon. I did enough research and wanted a 30mm tube in a 1 X 4. I did not need people trying to sell there leftovers that they could not sell. I understand that trying to use one scope for two applications is not the best choice but since I only use the slug gun two weeks a year I could use a quick release uni-mount. If you wish to drive to Jays in Clare Karrie is the most knowledgeable person I have ever spoken to about optics. She knows her products very well.

Thanks, I have a very close friend who has several S&B and he replaced them with Trijicon. Said they were much clearer and brighter. I have not personally looked into that but I will take a look at the S&B.

$3500 AR??? I have seen more great(wasted) advice here than even the thickest skinned individual should see.
You sir(kwak), should pay attention because most of the advice you see is dead on. As to anyone replacing S&B scopes with Trijicon's and saying they are clearer quality, I call Bullshit.
I have a US Optics SN4 that is a replacement for the one I beeat down in OEF VII and they are/were both superb, very clear scopes and would be fine on a $3500 AR(WTF???)
For less, the Super Sniper Scopes are killer and less expensive than USO/S&B/NF. As to a Leatherwood, I have looked hard at their Scout Scope and am liking it for a hunting rifle...$300> and am not worried about overall clarity because it's much better than the Tasco I had on a different rifle a few years back. You would do well to pay attention to the people who have wasted their time with you because it is quite obvious you know jack or shit about rifles and good optics. Anyone who pays $3500 for an AR needs a little schooling form the men you have so insolently insulted herein.

And could you please at least write your question out right. You want a 1-4X scope not a 1x4 right?
One sounds like something you could get at home depot while the other sounds like it belongs to scopes.
I have shot many trijicons and currently own an ACOG and I have also shot with the Short dot scopes and to say trijicons have better glass is bull shit and proves you don't have any friends with any knowledge on scopes. The only scope that is 1x and 4x only is the Elcan. So maybe if your question was asked right in the first place people would have known what you might need. Like I would like a scope in this price range________ would have helped. JMO

No I am just tired of ass holes like you finding their way to the hide with nothing to offer, you know the type of people that ask stupid questions but already have all the right answers. And I like how now you wrote 1x-4x above (in this entire thread you have yet until called upon it)which I have known all along but most people spell out what they want in the right way. Burris has a 30mm 1-4 that Midway has (LRS)for 299. Like the reticle. Got two of them in this week. Smaller than their 1-4 XTR
which I also have. Like them both. Like to see the new 30mm Accupoint that is supposed to be coming out with a new reticle.
