Happy Monday all.

I recently swapped my 10/22 (Tactical Innovation Elite 22 Reciever, Green Mountain barrel) over to a Titan stock from this Fajen I had previously.

I had tried to use the Fajen in a NRL22 match and the non-symmetrical cheek rest and thumbhole style sucked for the offhand stages. I had previously bed the action of my 10/22 to this fajen stock and bed the first 3" of the barrel past the v-block as well.

After swapping to the Titan I noticed that my group sizes opened up by 50% or so using the same ammo. I know Victor sells the Titan spike, but the lock up on the action as it sit seems really solid, think it may still help? Does my gun just like some bedding in front of the v-block? I wanted to see if others had had similar experiences and if they had solved them.

Thanks for the input, want to get her shooting lights out again.

Have you checked to see if the barrel is free floated back to the v-block in the Titan stock? I'd also check to make sure the screws for the v-block are torqued to 10 foot pounds and that you're not getting any barrel droop. Have you tried torquing the take-down screw? Without trying it, I can't guess if the Titan spike will help although I did buy the Titan Kidd Anchor for my 10/22 when putting it in the Titan stock. It could just be that the harmonics of that barrel performs better with some pressure where you had it bedded.

I would guess if you bed your rifle it will make a world of difference. After I bedded the action of my 10/22 along with the first 3-3 1/2” of the barrel it basically cut my group size in half. I also stopped getting the random fliers. I think I’m my case it was the additional support for the barrel that made the difference.

Hey Gents!

There are a lot of factors that go into making a .22 shoot accurately, so pulling it out of a bedded stock and putting it a Titan might have mixed results at first. The Titan generally doesn't need any bedding, esp if you are using a Kidd Rear Anchor which is tunable and can deliver insane results. Bedding a stock is the gold standard so you may want to try that. We have had some customers bed it to good effect, however I haven't seen it first hand.

Michael,
Thanks for the response, the stock is great and I certainly do not blame the platform for anything.

Opinions are all over the map on barrel floating strategy with 10/22s. Many swear by a pressure point, many claim free-float or die. Maybe mine just happens to like a little pressure by the receiver, I will play with it a bit and see. I have used automotive gasket material in the past with vintage rifles to create a more consistent pressure to good effect. Will try that here before I drop any bedding compound in there.

The question of whether or not to free float on a barrel has been raised by many as some shooters have had great success with their non-floating barrels.

From all the testing we've done and what we've observed in the NRL22 is if you barrel is not free floating if can shoot great until you begin put pressure on the stock under real world use. This means when you press it against a barricade or sling it up it pushes the barrel out of its normal channel and the accuracy goes out the window. A free-floated barrel shoots the same no matter what stress is put on the stock.

The one thing I would add is bedding in front of the V-Block a couple inches is still allowing your barrel to free float, so I don't see any problem with that.

I bet you can get that Titan to shoot lights out.

Best of luck and if you have any questions, just PM me.

Question for @Michael Victor , I just got my fiance the new 10/22 competition rifle which has like 2 action screws (1 at the base, and one like a normal 10/22). Do you know if that'll work with the Titan?

If I order it with the universal cheek piece, does it come installed or do I still need to do the drilling at home?

Thanks!

The new Ruger 10/22 competition unfortunately is not compatible with our Titan stock. As for the Titan Universal Cheekrest- yes you would need to install that yourself. It's super easy and comes with all the tools.

Well this is interesting. My Clark’s Custom has always shot better than I can. The stock, Boyd’s pro varmint, had an accident. Clark’s makes (has them made) their 10/22 stocks with a bump about 2” back from the end of the forearm. This is to counter the wobble in the 10/22 when a bull barrel is installed. Negative effects on accuracy were never noted regardless of shooting position.
Not wanting to wait several months for an exact stock replacement, I ordered the Victor. I also picked up a new Volquartisen action screw and Victors new action spike. All are setting on the bench ready to go. When the new safety gets in I’ll re assemble and see how it does.
I have high hopes for this stock. My Clark’s is one of my favorite rifles ever. If it work I will be impressed and happy. If not it will be in the PX for dirt cheap.

Installed the Clark’s Custom in the Titan 10/22 stock. Barrel laying right down the left side of the stock. Hopefully I’ll calm down and figure this out. Hit me up if this is normal or you know the fix. If not, keep an eye on the PX, or my trash can.

First check the straightness of the receiver:
