Photos 1000yd group

I don't even know if this is good or not, just thought I'd share it. Shooting 175 .308's from southwest out of a Surgeon Scalpel. Couldn't figure out how to get the electronic target to tell me what the group measured. The bottom two on the right were my first two btw. There's 47 shots.

All I know is THE WIND KILLS YOU! Lol.

The black circle looks to be 1 mil, so I'd say around 36 inches.

I've got the black measured at 1.3 mil. Therefore about 46 inches. But that's not to say the scope isn't an SFP and not lined up with the Mil-mark so the dots are exactly one mil. NRA standard 1k targets are 44" of black.

Nice shooting though.

Where are you measuring from? Not saying you're wrong, because I really have no idea what standard size targets are (hell you seem to know more than I do so you're probably right), but my eyes are still seeing only 1 mil.

Using my cursor. The left edge of my cursor arrow is vertical.

Measuring the 'black', it's just larger than my cursor. Measuring, the mil-dot's they are just smaller than my cursor. Splitting the difference of the mil-dot, I guestimated 1.3 mil.

My eyes aren't that good, the cursor was the only tool I had to use to measure this.

Yea, me and the RSO were giggling about that. I was developing a real nice ring around it. Seems like every time I corrected for the wind, it reversed directions.

If you look closely, the bottom half mil, and the top half mil from center both line up with the edge of the black. Hence the one mil.

Anyone else seeing this, or am I blind?

If you look at the pic a little closer still you will see that both the bottom and top half mil marks are inside the black. And even more focused look shows the lower one slightly up from the bottom.

You used the actual mil's like you would see it in a scope. I used a tool on the picture. Which obviously won't work in the field. But, it does give some feedback in what to look for.

Added:

What I'm saying is, remember to include the thickness of the lines. Or reduce by those thicknesses if 'framing' (entire target inside the lines) the target. Then look twice for any 'fudge' left over. When I do that I come closer to 1.2 mils which is what the NRA 1k target should be. Remember, center to center add/deduct for the lines/dots

No idea. RSO didn't even know. If it's 1.2 mils then it's 43.2 inches, but I'm sure it's probably the 44" you mentioned as the standard size. If that's the case then it's 1.2222222 mils.

You may be a better shooter than you're telling us.

S&B 5-25 (on 25 power) FFP with H2CMR reticle.

In comparison, here is a chest sized target that I was making contact with all day the first time I shot at 1000,...on a slightly less windy day. Again, the RSO didn't know how big it was, or I can't remember, either one.

Like I said, this particular range has really hard win to call. Not only could it be moving like ten different ways from the muzzle to the target, but each of them can reverse at the blink of an eye, which would happen just about every time I tried to correct for it. Outstanding group!

Without knowing what kind of target it is it's hard to say too. A standard 'B-27 is 24"x45. But that includes room to attach to a pop-up machine or bury/base to attach to. But, what you see should be 24" wide. ...if that helps

Anyhow, not only are they great groups, the photography is excellent as well. To be able to sit here and measure this as close as we can say's a lot about the clarity of the optics.

Especially since the camera was an Iphone.

But yea, sitting there holding the gun with one hand so it lines up with the target and manipulating the camera with the other wasn't exactly easy, lol.
