    Not Chicago, Illinios
I haven't looked to far into the building of a ruger 1022.
I'm looking to stay around the 5-600 mark without glass.
I want to build something that will be reasonably accurate at 50 or further.
A positional gun one might say.
    Not a "bench" version.
I know some of you have traveled this road and gained some insight.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I guess my thought was to mention them so you can look for a bull barrel model in case you want to add on later, then you won't have to fart with the stock at the same time.

My stock target model shoots so damned good it's hard for me to think about buying a high end barrel or other upgrades.
I did change the spring for subsonics and put a Kidd trigger kit in it.
I tried a Xring barrel and a Titan stock, in various mixes and matches with factory parts, and none of it shot was well as the factory setup.
I did get silly on the scope, but my best group was shot with a lesser offering.

Funny you brought the target model up.
    I was considering that direction.
Just didn't have any first hand info to apply.
    Nice shooting btw.

I built two of them for my nephews, no actual ruger parts on them. I like the titan stock, that's what I put on mine, I put raptor stocks on the nephews rifles, and the BSA FFP midway special scopes on them, I can dial to 300 meters with a 20 moa rail and the focus close too. They have Green Mountain barrels, mine's a Feddersen. Feddersen is making receivers now too, I'm thinking of building up another one with his brass receiver. All three will shoot one hole groups at 25 yards with CCI SV and do it at 50 most of the time too. I take them out to the steel range and we shoot the chickens in the head at 200 meters. They have only shot at 50 yards a couple times, they don't know most people don't shoot 22's past 50 very much. :)
Here's the test target I did for one of them after I zero'd the scope. Included the targets in the case with the rifles that the got for Christmas a few years ago. The bolt is a JWH with their initials on it. If you scroll to the right you'll see the titan as well.
