Did some tinkering tonight with my Savage 308, I got in a Hornaday OAL guage, and was playing with some different bullets. The 110 Vmax load measured 2.192 to the lands with a comparator, or roughly 2.771 Overall Length. That makes the "Sweet spot" somwheres right around 2.756 or 2.177(comparator). Can you load this round that far out? has anyone ever done that? It looks like you have over 1/8th of an inch in the case. Would they fall out? I have been working with this round and reloader 10x and am going to play with seating depth next, just wondering if you can go that far out with this round.

Re: 110 Vamx

I load them in my 300WM to 3800 fps, they are not seated very far in the case, probably around the 1/8 inch you reference. I've loaded maybe 50 of them and I only had one that came loose, I think it was an old case that was in need of annealing.

I have found them to tolerate a LONG jump to the lands with great accuracy, surprised the heck out of me. I would seat them as deep as you need to get good hold in the case and shoot to verify accuracy.

Re: 110 Vamx

I loaded the first batch to 2.74 as a starting point and got MOA groupings with it, going to try the best powder charges and different OAl's next, just wondering if i could push them out that far, I will give it a whirl and report back.

Re: 110 Vamx

I load them one caliber deep. Good results from three different 308 chambers each with different land lengths. (FN factory, Remington factory and a custom match) They don’t seem to be to jump sensitive for me.
