Range Report 140 eld ballpark bc?

Need some help I loaded some 140 elds and have not been able to shoot at distance. Can you give a ballpark bc? I know all barrels are different just want to get close.27” barrel 8 twist.

A great ball park BC is the one printed right on the box by the manufacturer who has state of the art doplar radar equipment. Hornady's listed BC's for ELD match bullets are very good. Off the top of my head, .646 G1 is what the box should say.

The .326 is a 200 yard average as are most every other BC listed by most all manufacturer. If you are shooting long range then it changes over the velocity changes. Hornady gives the BC bands in the link below. Averaged the BC is .318. Originally Hornady put the 800 yard average on the box but it made people think the BC was low when they looked at other companies showing 200 yard averages so they wanted to give apples to apples. If i remember correctly they listed it as around .310.

The 4Dof program uses a custom curve and isn't BC dependent so it would be a good place to check data also.

As for truing, what works for one person and rifle won't for another. Sometimes it's not even the bullet but the scope not tracking 100% and you are adjusting the BC to account for that. The Hornady BCs are Doppler tested so they are true for the bullet but doesn't make them true in every rifle. Damn close though.
