The two are very similar and probably within 50fps of each other with the Edge being a little faster.

About 2.4sec with the load Shawn runs.

Infact boys I believe that shot was made with Shawns 338 Allen Mag ( 338/408. The video is on Shawns DVD and after a first round miss and correction he made that second round hit. In a good bit of wind I might add !

Shawn built my gun too and he sure can walk the walk !

Here is my gun in 338 EDGE with a 3 shot group at 1342 yards in a 10 mph full value wind from the weekend

Re: 1602 yard shot on youtube

Performance wise they are the same. RUM brass is cheaper but won't get as many reloads as Lapua brass. Lapua requires a bigger bolt face, which limits rechambering to something else (which will never happen after you shoot either).

Re: 1602 yard shot on youtube

You could not go wrong with a well made one of either.

The LAP will beat the edge for speed with the same length barrel generally. Most edge rifles are 28-30" finished plus break. 30" probably being the prefered length by most that I know of personally.

They both are fun to shoot.
